oh dang, i'm definitely gonna watch (tomorrow, though, or whenever it goes up online)
i wish her show could be on every night

So, like, her being in favor of segregated NYC schools isn't a deal breaker?

something tells me that's an oversimplification of whatever the heck lpz is referring to.

it's all jason jones to be fair, but this is something the daily show would make fun of: One P.S. 452 parent speaking out against the move is comedian and former Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones, who’s married to Samantha Bee. "To portray any opposition as classist or racist is as bad as it can get," Jones told WNYC. And elsewhere: "We are not divided,” he said at a public hearing about the proposal, “we are absolutely united in wanting what's best for our children," then encouraged fellow parents not to talk to the press about the controversy.

i remember this from when it first came out, definitely does seem like a shitty stance on its face and ideally it would be nice to see she and *Jones at least address it in some context to offer their reasoning. but it hasn't kept me from enjoying her show, no.
*maybe i'm being an apologist for Bee but everything I've seen about this story has only quoted her husband and not her. can't automatically assume they're lockstep on this issue.

I can never figure out when this show is on. It either seems to constantly be on hiatus or about to come back from hiatus.
― Josh in Chicago, Friday, 17 March 2017 01:10 (seven years ago) link
it's on wednesday nights. they just came back last week, after a 3 or 4 week hiatus that was unexplained. it would be cool if they ever just updated the website with a "we'll be back in a month!" kind of message.

Hi Josh, I'd recommend watching it on http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC18vz5hUUqxbGvym9ghtX_w
It's usually up on the same night. But if you prefer cable, that's cool.
― Carlotta's Portrait (Ross), Friday, 17 March 2017 01:37 (seven years ago) link
It's funny looking at one of the series listings they finished season 1 on the 1st anniversary of the show, then did series 2 episode 1 then took a couple week's break so they're now on series 2 episode 3 I think.
― Stevolende, Friday, 17 March 2017 01:45 (seven years ago) link
^ Yeah, it's been pretty confusing. IMDB lists by season and usually has dates ahead of time, but this is a tough show to follow schedule-wise.

Find some of this funny but was surprised/disappointed about the fawning over Clinton and calling her "a proggesive feminist". Unless that was a joke but I don't think it was.
Some of the interviews seem unnecessarily mocking too.

what's going on here? I thought she was starting a new season but can't see upcoming episodes. Was the Not the Correspondents Dinner thing a sign off or something?

There's a new episode tonight.

TBS is really isn't doing her any favors though. She'll be back for two, three, four weeks, and then have a week or two weeks off, and then come back, and then be off.

Again, can never tell when it's on! Tbf, I don't have cable, so I try to find copies of it online, but even when clips proliferate the spots where I can usually find my TV faves there's typically no Sam Bee. She lives in the same weird purgatory as Conan.

There's a weekly set of Comedy News taht turns up on at least PIrate Bay that it turns up in. That also includes all the monologues from the Night shows like Conan, Stephen colbert etc.
have had a couple of individual torrents of FF recently that haven't worked on my memory stick/tv set up. But could at least watch it on my computer.

show has sadly become drastically uneven and still has not got past being patchy as to when it airs. when it's good it's great but the celebrity musical numbers and many of the produced bits are particularly bad. last episode's attempt to engage the acting crew seemed a bit desperate; they need to incorporate them but shuttling from talking head to talking head ain't gonna work.
― Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Tuesday, 10 October 2017 05:45 (six years ago) link
Hello! First post from a random mutt wandering by. Last week a Samantha Bee show producer spent an hour with me scoping out a story...
Speaking of patchy, that's my byline where I write about furries. Lately there's a bit of a nazi problem in that community, yes that's a word for it lately too...
There's a new book about them out yesterday from Cleis Press. And speaking of the nazi thing here's tags for it (one) (two) if you care.
The news site is a silly hobby thing, but interesting stuff has happened with it. The nazi thing is yet another push into geek groups (along with gaming, sci fi, comics) so we had some infiltrators document them from the inside, which synched with the Charlottesville nazi marching. I documented a couple of them on the scene of violence. We had them do "swatting" against a furry convention with a 5-figure security cost. And there's been more in the news like another convention getting ruined by them, I broke a story about it that Rolling Stone picked up. With all this going on I would be into stepping up the game by learning from peers in indie reporting.
