ILM Ballot Polls for 2014 and beyond -- order, timing, "I would have voted if I'd known about it," etc

It was my Blur poll that resulted in this never-ending list being drawn up a few years ago. That poll had 22 spots on the ballot and some of the subsequent ones did too, but it's been tidied up to 20 in most of them.

More than a month later and the "epics" poll hasn't even started and the s3 results rollout is proceeding at the rate of one a day. Lol @ this being preceded by the discussion about keeping things moving along at the rate of one poll every couple of weeks.

Οὖτις, Thursday, 12 March 2015 16:38 (nine years ago) link

Right? The plot is entirely lost.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 12 March 2015 16:53 (nine years ago) link

The no classical rule was there mostly because I didn't want to listen or deal with Xenakis. Sigh.

the next poll on the list is actually Yo La Tengo/Dump (Clemenza). I would happily tell him to get started if I didn't think people would complain about too many polls going on at once. The "epics" thing has turned into a clusterfuck (just as I predicted) and yet people seem to be enjoying arguing about it and it's not like I can shut it down (much as I would like to), nor can I make Elvis Telecom roll out his results any faster. But at this rate things are gonna be bogged down for awhile.

Οὖτις, Thursday, 12 March 2015 17:21 (nine years ago) link

Oh yes! (xp)

Walking Close to Melton Mowbray (Tom D.), Thursday, 12 March 2015 17:24 (nine years ago) link

eh I say let's start another. ILM seems very low on chat lately; polls at least present a reason to talk. and I'm not into the current polls for one reason or another

The "epics" thing has turned into a clusterfuck

Not even close.

I have no problem with the next poll going, as I'm going to give an extended amount of time for people to figure out their ballots.

Romo... ROMO! Bring Back Sergio Romo! (Leee), Thursday, 12 March 2015 17:32 (nine years ago) link

the audiences for the ones up through CCR are probably tiny enough that they could all run simultaneously without threatening ILM's attention spam imo

droit au butt (Euler), Thursday, 12 March 2015 17:37 (nine years ago) link

I realise that it's years until it would happen anyway, but I want to withdraw myself from the electroclash poll, I don't think I'd be able to deliver the desirable level of finesse and sparkle. If anyone else was interested enough to take over I wouldn't mind adding up ballots if they handle images/MCing threads etc

well if you sequentially number the 7 that were completed out of order (or without a number at all) seems to me that makes more sense. and is how i have it in the list.

Οὖτις, Friday, 13 March 2015 16:07 (nine years ago) link

eh I say let's start another. ILM seems very low on chat lately; polls at least present a reason to talk.

Yes, let's get to the next poll!! I can't take anymore Christgau and Kim Gordon bashing, and the epics poll is taking way too long.

kornrulez6969, Friday, 13 March 2015 17:53 (nine years ago) link

I feel like it should be: 2/3 days for noms, 5 to 7 days for listening, then voting starts.

Dinsdale, Friday, 13 March 2015 18:05 (nine years ago) link

91. Oasis - pollrunner needed for this one

put this one out of our misery imo

nashwan, Friday, 13 March 2015 18:20 (nine years ago) link

I would take an Oasis poll over nothing, "Columbia" is a jam

droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 13 March 2015 19:05 (nine years ago) link

that's basically it but that's an easy poll to run

droit au butt (Euler), Friday, 13 March 2015 19:07 (nine years ago) link

As I've mentioned a couple of times, I (and mookieproof, and van horn street, I think) can begin Yo La Tengo the day school ends. I was hoping one or two people would go first: Radiohead, maybe someone else, too.

clemenza, Saturday, 14 March 2015 00:16 (nine years ago) link

I can start Yo La Tengo in a month if you guys want! Before that it might be difficult.

Van Horn Street, Saturday, 14 March 2015 00:18 (nine years ago) link

Actually, since I'm only doing images, a month from now would be fine for me. I could get a bunch of images ready ahead of time and just add text later.

clemenza, Saturday, 14 March 2015 00:21 (nine years ago) link

ok, i will open The Boo Radleys if no one objects.

Bee OK, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:13 (nine years ago) link

Οὖτις, Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:20 (nine years ago) link

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 14 March 2015 02:49 (nine years ago) link

Veg, that poll is like 2-3 years away.

Don A Henley And Get Over It (C. Grisso/McCain), Saturday, 14 March 2015 03:28 (nine years ago) link

so what number should i use next?

60 or 63, 65, 66?

Bee OK, Saturday, 14 March 2015 03:42 (nine years ago) link

yeah, might as well leave electroclash in place for the years' wait too, just in case

Radiohead, maybe someone else, too.

A POLL IN A CAGE ON ANTIBIOTICS - ILM Artist Poll #56 - RADIOHEAD - RESULTS THREAD

Bee OK, Saturday, 14 March 2015 05:25 (nine years ago) link

Okay, now I remember. If you look on the big list, there's no "finished" beside Radiohead.

So go ahead and do the Boo Radleys, and it sounds like we can do Yo La Tengo late April.

clemenza, Saturday, 14 March 2015 13:25 (nine years ago) link

The "big list" is old and outdated, dont reference it

Οὖτις, Saturday, 14 March 2015 13:34 (nine years ago) link

i don't know about that: Somewhere in our hearts, results won't be the same (Spacemen 3 & etc. ballot results - ILM poll #57)

would like to know what number, with this new system, i should use for The Boo Radleys?

I don't really get why putting the poll number in the thread title is important, given how arbitrary they are and how things move around.

anyway, updated list (I bumped YLT to come after the Boo Radleys and Emo/Screamo polls, hopefully those will take about a month):
