ILX Metalheads : Do you want a best of 2010 Metal Poll ?

results still won't turn out any stupider than any of the year-end lists here:

if people want to vote they will, the problem is the metal guys and gals dont want to vote. or are against polls entirely.

on ilx we do a nominations thread.

I would vote in this.

anyway -- people who want to choose from a comprehensive nominations list can do so. anyone who wants to add something extra (stupid or not) can do so. you can even throw out obvious lol-votes like kanye or whatever.

then they complain that i left out votes, not to mention it fucks up the vote count speadsheets meaning extra work, NO.

If someone says an album has been left out after noms close, they can simply mention it on the thread and ask if they can vote for it. if it meets the criteria then fine.
BUT WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH POTENTIAL VOTERS YET, so its all irrelevant.

Is the issue really that you don't want to do it because of the clusterfuck of the all-time poll? It's okay to say that instead of saying there's no interest because the same people who never vote aren't going to vote in it. Sounds to me like the usual suspects are all interested.

Aye, and it's not like about a dozen people on the thread haven't said they're taking part already FFS.

If anything, the obsession shown with four named posters and their contributions makes me feel like it's some special club I can never be part of because I don't post enough so maybe I shouldn't bother.

They don't want to vote, for whatever reason. The rest of us do, and what's more we get something out of the results. There were maybe 10 records in last year's list that I'd either missed or misjudged that the poll made me reevaluate. How is that a bad thing?

people will vote, just run the poll. also, try not to come across like such a nominations nazi, people will like you better and not give you as much shit in the results thread, i'm guessing?

also do we make it a heavy rock/metal poll to stop people complaining that there's non metal stuff in it? Because lots of stuff in it every year are obviously not actually 'metal'. Like when marnie stern made it and everyone complained.

make a loose nominations list, allow people to vote outside the list if they bother to think of anything else

Yeah, run a noms list for a couple of weeks before opening voting just to remind people. It's actually been a pretty long year for potential high placers - didn't Cathedral come out in January or something?

no we have a noms list, if anything is missed out you can ask on the voting thread if you can include it, if its within poll parameters and noone vetoes it then it will be a yes.

Give me a date for closing nominations.

i will help out on this if i can but have to be pretty noncomittal in general because wedding prep/dead computer are taking up most of my time/anger, which is why ive been not ilxing much as of late.
