I feel bad not voting for either of those wonderful Jens Lekman singles but I have to go with Sebastien Tellier's La Ritournelle. It's my favourite song of the last 15 years.

This is easily my favourite year so far. Maps, Toxic, Slow, Strict Machine, Where Have All The Rubeboys Gone, I Luv You, There There, Reptilia and Ignition (Remix) are all up there.

This one is way harder than the last one for me. Excluding a few duds (Jet, Franz Ferdinand, Libertines) almost every single in this list is from 4 to 5 stars to me. I've burned out most of them though... Jens Lekman, TVOTR, Sebastien Tellier, !!! and Ricardo Villalobos are the ones I still listen to without skipping... probably one of those... right now I'm in ritournelle or black cab mood... the former has a brilliant vibe and drums by Tony Allen (and was shamelessly ripped off by Radiohead for Reckoner, arguably one of their best songs) the latter a great sample by Left Banke.

Was "The Way You Move" counted as the B-side/double A-side to "Hey Ya"? That's the only way I can account for its absence here.

I remember it being one of the worst songs that any human being has ever recorded.

I had the pleasure of hearing the extended version of Slow in a club recently and it sounded impeccable so I've went for that but it could be a number of things here. But I absolutely never ever need to hear Mr Brightside ever again.

Good stuff sprinkled throughout but the top six is pretty unstoppable.

I really want to vote for Ted Leo, but that top ten reads like the ten most significant songs of the decade.

Hey Ya! and Ignitition (Remix) are undoubtedly among the greatest singles released in my lifetime - but I feel like I've kinda worn them out. Crazy in Love is the gift that keeps on giving and gets my vote, strong contenders include:

Slow is a decent Kylie single but too... slow

Try the Chemical Brothers remix, probably the best one they did.

feel like "Fix Up, Look Sharp" is getting a little overlooked so I voted for that one. there are a bunch of classics here though.

I mentioned it upthread and also on my blog when it was active back in 2007... got lots of angry emails and comments. It was a post dedicated to the ripoffs/influenced of every track of In Rainbows.

Another one I remember:

Great year, although I think the decade was quite strong musically up until about 2008.

I stopped paying the dreamhost service so my blog got taken down and the comments don't load properly anymore. Let me get home and see if I can find a working link.

Might be well worth checking if it crops up on the internet archive.
