The first album was great, the second one was a lot darker and more difficult (but ultimately rewarding in my opinion). How's this one?

Giving this a proper spin. In some ways, I preferred the second to the first. The arrangements and the tossed off afterthoughts made Arm's Way the calypso breakdowns in the middle of songs, the random codas, the Who quoting. It was a lot more enjoyably ramshackle than it was made to be.

Initial listen to Vapours was weird, because the palette is totally different - synthy and heavy on the drums and very taught, but the hooks didn't hit me at first. It's a foggier sound than the first album. Also, parts of "Switch On" make me want to start chanting I PUT ON FOR MY CITY ON ON FOR MY CITY. etc.

anyway i like "vapours," "switch on," and "heartbeat" but nothing is close to as good as "rough gem," "volcanoes" etc.
