how was the alien? i had the just about the quietest weekend ever.

rchinn (rchinn), Sunday, 21 May 2006 11:48 (twelve years ago) Permalink

She was great! All very Berlin and minimal but lushly melodic in places as well. Also I want to marry her, especially after seeing her standing there texting people in the DJ booth.

Lindstrom & Prinz Thomas surprised me as well. Much chunkier sound than I was expecting and it left me going "why didn't the album sound like that?" Unfortunately they ended an hour earlier than they were scheduled to, we were in the other room at the time and didn't get to see whether they played I Feel Space. Gah.

Weirdest moment of the night = Erol playing a set of big chunky rocky electro (Justice and Vitalic and lots of stuff that sounded like them) only to drop Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name in the middle of it. The place went fucking mental.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 21 May 2006 13:54 (twelve years ago) Permalink

SPOTTING - TRAINS! 'way out' is so massive.

i was totally feeling lindstrom - all those dirty funk bass grooves topped off by music box stylings at the exact mid-point of tweeness and ket-blankness. unfortunately anna-marie was hating it, but the other room was ace anyway (APART FROM ratm, have you NO SHAME!).

ellen allien was ridiculously beautiful - i couldn't keep my eyes off her! her white halter-neck top was gorgeous, and her hair looked fab too. she looked like she was having a lot of fun, esp when she started to sing along to her own vocals.

has anyone been to the t bar lately? eg i see villalobos is at fabric next saturday, which i won't be able to make, but will he be at the t bar on sunday afternoon?

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 21 May 2006 16:36 (twelve years ago) Permalink

yes. i go to t-bar regularly. sunday the day after a villalobos session will be funny. it will be full of twitch ket-afterparters from about 2pm - 7pm and then start to peter out. ricard will look something like this...

rchinn (rchinn), Monday, 22 May 2006 09:30 (twelve years ago) Permalink

yeah, i'm quite tempted by the t-bar on sunday (midday til midnight apparently), but i'm already going to john cage stuff in the afternoon and lightning bolt in the evening, so not sure it'll fit in...

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 25 May 2006 09:14 (twelve years ago) Permalink

if villalobos will be at the t-bar on sunday, i would be up for that.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 25 May 2006 09:41 (twelve years ago) Permalink

i think it's almost certain that he will be, afaik he always shows up to the afterparties.

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 25 May 2006 11:12 (twelve years ago) Permalink

My friend will be visiting and we will be in town so may come down to t-bar. I can just show up right? I don't have to 'do' anything?

(seventh hit for villalobos & "t bar" in Google is rchinn's MySpace!)

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Thursday, 25 May 2006 16:34 (twelve years ago) Permalink

awesome. i have penetrated the indexed and pageranked zeitgest.

chance villalobos might not make it to t-bar and could be at secretsundaze.

rchinn (rchinn), Thursday, 25 May 2006 20:58 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Could you keep me updated on this. Thank you!

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Thursday, 25 May 2006 21:38 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Secretsundaze have a 'sectret guest' this sunday but they assure me it isn't V. THEY MAY BE TRYING TO FOOL ME!

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Friday, 26 May 2006 16:39 (twelve years ago) Permalink

tell me more about secretsundaze - they've always been too secret for me to know anything about them, i think.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 26 May 2006 16:56 (twelve years ago) Permalink

If I were in london this weekend I'd be going to the multi-soundsystem teknival in the west country, but I'm not, which is arse.

Ed (dali), Friday, 26 May 2006 17:08 (twelve years ago) Permalink

toby, email them and they'll put you on their mailout list...

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Friday, 26 May 2006 17:25 (twelve years ago) Permalink

rchinn (rchinn), Sunday, 28 May 2006 08:20 (twelve years ago) Permalink

yeah i saw that. guess i won't bother going down after all :-(

i'm in Berlin dammit!

Konal Doddz (blueski), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 08:58 (twelve years ago) Permalink

the ironing is like bratwurst

Konal Doddz (blueski), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 08:59 (twelve years ago) Permalink

I will be at Fabric for M.A.N.D.Y. yes.

rchinn (rchinn), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:32 (twelve years ago) Permalink

somewhat tempting, although it's my sister's birthday party that evening, which will probably stop me. any news on any afterparties?

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:57 (twelve years ago) Permalink

eulberg, neumann, loco dice 8th july @ the end?

ambrose (ambrose), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 21:23 (twelve years ago) Permalink

two weeks pass...
SO. get physical, fabric, this saturday. who's doing it?

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 22 June 2006 07:54 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Don't think so. I have no money, it's Fabric and there's an England match the next day I want to be in a reasonable state for. That minimal stuff on the 8th looks tempting though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 22 June 2006 08:24 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Actually, what I would really like sometime soon is a night of big FRIDAY dancing, as every Saturday in forever is kind of filled up. Anything good going on?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 22 June 2006 08:27 (twelve years ago) Permalink

My friends are playing at a bar named Fluid tomorrow nite, round the corner from Fabric. Usual suspects' dance music, basically. Night's called Short Circuit, used to do very good buisness back in our student daze.

Hal! Jordan! HAL! JORDAN! (Barima), Thursday, 22 June 2006 17:54 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Did anyone go on Saturday in the end then?

Also, who is up for CROSS CENTRAL on the August bank holiday weekend? I'm toying with the idea of both nights but may just get Saturday tix at first.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 10:43 (twelve years ago) Permalink

annabel, ian, sophie, robin and i went, with some of annabel's work colleagues. it was FUCKING AWESOME! we ended up drinking lager on the pavement of gray's inn road at 8.30am like proper homeless people. impressively katie also went out raving, still with her cast on.

tdk is ON - i'm thinking both days...

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 10:58 (twelve years ago) Permalink

i am up for CROSS CENTRAL even though it is this young person's dancing music. i'm only going for the folk ;)

and only the saturday.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 11:10 (twelve years ago) Permalink

our plan for tdk is to outdo last year's debauchery!

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 11:43 (twelve years ago) Permalink

I am gonna go to one day of Cross Central. I dunno which bcz my brother is sorting it out.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 11:45 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Cross Central Saturday looks good, less bothered about the sunday.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 11:47 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Looking at the line-ups, Saturday looks better, even if Sunday does have Annie and Booka Shade.

Halfway down the list = LEX RECORDS DJs!

impressively katie also went out raving, still with her cast on.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 27 June 2006 12:02 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Saturday at Fabric was great. Good little Sonar carry-on. I didnt make it to Public Life but am sure it would have been equally debauched.

I'm in Isle of Wight this weekend, but next weekend there is a lot on. Cocoon 2 @ The End, and Tales of the Jackalope in South Derbyshire.

rchinn (rchinn), Thursday, 29 June 2006 12:29 (twelve years ago) Permalink

London people who enjoy things like Forget About The Sugar - anyone up for the London launch of It Came From The Sea? The Brighton ones I've been to in the last couple of years have been almost unfailingly awesome...

Flyboy (Flyboy), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 08:59 (twelve years ago) Permalink

That's this Saturday, obv...

Flyboy (Flyboy), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 08:59 (twelve years ago) Permalink

This looks good but I'm already triple-booked for Saturday. What time does this end? There might be after-hours dancing fun somewhere...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 09:29 (twelve years ago) Permalink

i'm now quadruple-booked for saturday and i KNOW NOT WHAT TO DO :(

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 09:30 (twelve years ago) Permalink

You're actually quintruple-booked - there's something else you're forgetting.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 09:45 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Don't you dare be too hung over to come to the BBQ on Sunday. :-(

Tangerine Machine (kate), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 09:47 (twelve years ago) Permalink

i am almost 100% certain that you are in fact correct. maybe i'm even sextuple-booked!

xp what bbq!

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 09:47 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Shimuras BBQ at the Windmill on Sunday.

Tangerine Machine (kate), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 09:54 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Ah! That sounds as if it would be lovely, actually, esp if I am hungover/have not been to sleep yet.

I have decided that I will endeavour to do three of the five parties on Saturday.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 10:00 (twelve years ago) Permalink

Is "fashion" a kind of music now?

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 10:07 (twelve years ago) Permalink

I think that's just word association. Musn't pause, musn't hesitate, get a bash on the head like this -

Flyboy (Flyboy), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 11:00 (twelve years ago) Permalink

"Action music" sounds fun!
