I hate her the way I hate Stan Lee. Everything either of them has done has been on the backs of other much more talented and interesting people. It's all about status, money, and power. It's people like that that make the world almost unbearable to live in.

"I hate her the way I hate Stan Lee"

now there's a name I didn't expect to see mentioned here.

kilian, kilian, kilian. first it was Dean Wareham's voice, and now it's Courtney's breasts. i hope one day we agree on something..

like you would give a shit if some male musician was "trustworthy" or not

do you know anything about me and how i judge people? no. and since courtney love puts her personality so out there, her personality is there for me to judge as i would judge anyone i knew personally. i would judge any male musician in exactly the same way. me and my female friends have committed ourselves to changing the position of women in rock music, i'm even writing a fucking dissertation on it, so do your homework before you run around accusing feminist women of misogyny.

so do your homework before you run around accusing feminist women of misogyny.

this is a stupid thing to say, you don't know anything about me and i shouldn't expect you to. but really, do you accuse EVERYONE of misogyny if they don't like a (singular) woman?

Hmm.. di, I am feminist myself - what would you like to see happen re: women in rock music ? I certainly wish there were more, & that rock in general was better, and as for CL's place.. I suppose what drew me to rock back during the grunge days was that it wasn't supposed to be polite, well-behaved, tasteful, any of those things. So I get a kick out of some of her loopy behavior. But then, I was a huge fan of the music first, I was in high school & already liked Nirvana and was actually disinclined to appreciate Hole - basically didn't want to like them at all. And I found I essentially disagreed w/those who rate KC's talent far and above, since Hole always got to me a lot more than Nirvana did.

famous people are only cool if they do lots of amusingly stupid shit in public. the rest : kill em & steal their money.

"me and my female friends have committed ourselves to changing the position of women in rock music"

Out of interest, what do you and your female friends think Ms Love has done to to / for the position of women in rock music?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Friday, 7 February 2003 12:45 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah daria i completely agree that i wish there were more women in rock music. while i think its great that courtney os out there doing just that, (and i do think shes a talented songwriter, well specifically earlier hole). so in that respect she is useful for feminism: as a woman visibly making rock music to inspire other women. but on the other hand, having bitch fights with riot grrrls is hardly very productive for women in rock, abusing other human beings, no matter who you are, ain't cool.

so just about to go to work, i'll think about this more later.

This too:

"Unless there is some other confirmation, I'd say The Drudge Report has the story pegged."

dan. (dan.), Friday, 12 August 2005 17:35 (eighteen years ago) link

Drudge and some other websites are reporting there is no truth to Courtney Love doing herself in last night. They report the rumors are flooding the web. I have not seen anything. Has anyone?

Hmmm. Does Drudge have past "beef" with Courtney?
