What is the WEIRDEST state in America?

Well, Vermont's been mentioned so I now have to pipe up:

It was a sovereign and idependent country once upon a time. The 13 original states refused its entry ino the union.

The state tried to have Lake Champlain designated as the 6th great lake, even though the nearest one is a few hundred miles away.

It is the home of Snowflake Bentley, a man who made thousands of photgraphs of, well, snowflakes.

There is speculation that Chester A. Arthur was actually born in Canada, which would have invalidated his presidency.

Most hippies east of the Mississippi tend to gravitate toward here.

Most Vermonters can not afford to buy Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

Phish

There are no billboards ( I kinda like that, though)

We actually do say "ayuh".

Winters are interminably long.

And of course no mention of Vermont would be complete without touting Ticklenaked Pond.

So, yeah, kinda weird in those respects.

Hawaii is weird - they have snow cones with beans in them, and lots of food with Spam in it. Not bad, just weird.

Pennsylvania wins: Ticklenaked is merely foreplay.

jim wentworth, does your wife like it when you skip foreplay???

Ian John50n (orion), Sunday, 31 October 2004 04:07 (nineteen years ago) link

i wouldn't concede the fight so quickly, mr. wentworth. i mean, PA doesn't have "runaway pond" while VT does (and said "runaway pond" wasn't too far away from where you are in VT, either!)

You folks will have to excuse me as the Red Sox fan that I have long been. I'm not used to winning.

Of course my wife enjoys the foreplay. I think she does, at least. That is, she tells me it's good. I mean... For Christ's sake!

Eisbar, I drive right by Runaway Pond regulary. I mean, where it was.

And as long as we're talking named places. What the hell were folks thinking when they named Kalamazoo or Cucomonga?

one of the weirdest 24 hour stretches of my life was spent in nevada.. walking around vegas at night, stone cold sober, seeing a waitress with a 'new york' nametag in the venetian, coming back to new york, new york (the hotel), seeing a photograph of the new york skyline right next to a window showing the las vegas skyline..

the next morning, taking a tour of the nevada nuclear test site. remains of dummy houses and bridges. thunderstorms. craters. the desert. 'official' documentary on the bus that showed the flashes you could see in vegas when the site was operational. bus driver almost falling asleep.

The case could very easily be made that Kentucky is NOT normal. We have political assassinations over COUNTY ELECTIONS. We have Cumberland Falls, where the ONLY remaining MOONBOW on Earth can be found (now that that stretch of the Nile has been dammed). We have churches whose services are based around people HOLDING DEADLY VENOMOUS SNAKES. We have places with names like DIX DAM DOX and BIG BONE LICK. We have huge amounts of very deadly NERVE GAS stored in Richmond. When Derby season is on, celebrities and Saudi princes fly in for the ponies.

five months pass...
i'm sure delaware is secretly weird underneath the nondescriptness. it's gotta be a front operation for something really sinister.

Ever seen The Pretender?
