The same rotten entity that tries to enforce these unworkable bully boy policies are the same ones who know all about polluting our skies and air with CHEMTRAILS. Just look above your head every morning on the way to work.

I wonder whether this comment will get published!!

"They DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUNS to rule us. End of."

Steady on, Robert from Worcester. It's just a food recycling bin.

Hahahaha

Robert from Worcester gonna be all holed up in his cabin Charles Bronson-style executing hundreds of plastic bin-wielding council employees.

It's a point your paper has made on several occasions and I agree with you on this. Every year Britain sends 6.7 million tons of food to landfill, where it contributes to dangerous methane emissions.

says Hil.

Mark G, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 13:25 (fourteen years ago) link

just to clarify something- when this food waste goes into a special bin, where does it go to from there if not landfill? pigfood?

Hmm, I pressed the green arrow on Hillary Benn's comment, now I see it's back to zero.

Anyone want to press some green arrows there? Just for the hell of it?

Mark G, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 13:27 (fourteen years ago) link

Actually, just realised I pressed the wrong one, about the dogs who woof down food.

As opposed to chickens, who just cluck it down, right?

It basically gets composted. Both the end product and the heat the process generates can be re-used, along with any waste gas.

My sister looked out of her window a couple of weeks ago, and there marching across the lawn was a sea of maggots from her and her neighbours dustbins.
My sister, niece and the neighbours were up until midnight putting salt down and bleaching the bins in the half-light from various front rooms.
Benn & co will have us slopping out out potty's next rather than use a flush toilet.

Nearly 800 comments now - it's like lightbulbs all over again.

Our local council, Cotswold, introduced exactly this awful scheme a year ago.

That would be a tory council then. Bloody Cameron and his eco-crazy goons.

I have no idea what the big deal with wheelie bins is, we've had them for as long as I can remember (probably, hey, 20 years) and don't know what better thing everyone is so angry about the loss of. Am I too working class to have experienced the wonders of amazing pneumatic tube systems or something.

Akon/Family (Merdeyeux), Wednesday, 16 September 2009 13:44 (fourteen years ago) link

Before wheelie bins we kept rubbish in black plastic bags piled up in the bin cupboard outside, which was far more likely to atract maggots/flies/rats. So I too have no idea WTF these people are complaining about.

a gift from your mind in the form of the perfect beat (snoball), Wednesday, 16 September 2009 13:48 (fourteen years ago) link

These people had steel dustbins with steel lids that rats didn't chew through. It was a golden age of refuse collection, you could leave your bin open and no-one stole your identity.
