http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namor

Silver Age and on

Namor returned in The Fantastic Four #4 (May 1962), where a member of the titular superhero team, Johnny Storm, the new Human Torch, discovers him living as an amnesiac homeless man in the Bowery section of Manhattan. Storm shaves the "bum" with his flames, recognizes Namor, and dumps him into the river in the hopes of restoring his memory, which it does.

What's the so unusual about that? It's a pretty accurate description of that story.

Andy Gill (born January 1, 1956) is a founding member and guitarist for the English rock group Gang of Four, considered among the most influential post-punk bands. Gill is known for his jagged style of playing on albums such as Entertainment! (1979) and Solid Gold (1980) and hit singles such as "At Home He's a Tourist," "Damaged Goods," "Anthrax," "what all men want," and "I Love a Man in Uniform."

Gill also produced much of Gang of Four's output, including their most recent 2005 release, and albums for many other artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Jesus Lizard, The Stranglers, The Futureheads, Michael Hutchence, Killing Joke and The Young Knives, who have been nominated for the 2007 Mercury prize.

Andy Gill should not be confused with the Andy Gill who writes reviews for The Independent newspaper. They are however, the same person.

So Johnny Storm's idea of a good time is going down to the Bowery and setting a homeless man on fire?

Steve-O attended the "Rock The Bells" Hip-Hop Festival in San Bernardino, California in August 2006 to some controversy. The Concert was headlined by the Wu-Tang Clan and the event was organized as a tribute to clan member Ol' Dirty Bastard. While on stage with the Wu-Tang Clan, Steve-O exclaimed that he shared the same cell with O.D.B, albeit at different times. He proceeded to show his affection for ODB by getting nude, tucking his penis between his legs and doing a back flip. This upset Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon, and he threatened to assault him if he didn't apologize while tempers flared. [13][14]

Superbad is the soundtrack to the 2007 film of the same name. It was released on August 7, 2007 on Lakeshore Records. The album features original music by Lyle Workman and Bootsy Collins, as well as songs by artists such as Curtis Mayfield and Rick James. Interestingly, the film also included references of highly obscure and overlooked mid-1960s rock groups (the two police officers were featured listening to The Remains and The Amboy Dukes in their patrol car). Additionally, the film includes two songs (Pork and Beef & My Favorite Mutiny) by the militant hip hop group The Coup.

Also, it is awesome.

As can be seen in the screenshot, MacPaint included a "Goodies" menu that included the FatBits tool. This menu was named the "Aids" menu in prerelease versions, but was renamed "Goodies" as public awareness of the AIDS epidemic grew in the summer of 1983.

Road Tripping Today

Today, modern road tripping is a fast growing hobby, and not just a means of vacationing. Groups dedicated to the art of the road trip, known either as professional road trippers or road enthusiasts, are becoming prevalent online. One such online community, and one of the largest, is Roadtrip America.

Road tripping, to some, has indeed become an art. Road enthusiasts frequently debate on proper gear, attire, and electronics. Other frequent debates include type of road trip (a ‘moseying’ road trip vs. a set schedule), use of in-vehicle DVD players to pacify young passengers, and, to a lesser extent, destinations.

Professional road tripping has spawned other activities, including dashboarding, caravanning (multi-vehicle road trips), RV-ing, county collecting, welcome sign photography, and other facets of the road tripping hobby.

From 'California Games' entry:

There are some easter eggs in this game:

* On some random occasions, there is an earthquake during the skateboarding event. The H of the Hollywood sign falls down (The remaining "OLLYWOOD" might be a reference to the ollie.)
* You can hit the seagull in Footbag. Hitting the gull grants more points.
* There is a shark in Surfing who laughs. (This is not an easter egg. The shark, the dolphin or the gull appear quite often in surfing.)
* When practicing Flying Disc, a UFO occasionally 'abducts' the catcher of the disc.

Abbott, Saturday, 26 January 2008 04:53 (sixteen years ago) link

The sound design for the original version of California Games was done by Chris Grigg, member of the band Negativland.
The gameplay for the footbag game was inspired by a scene in the movie The Great Dictator wherein Chaplie Chaplin juggles a balloon depicting the planet Earth with his feet.[citation needed]

According to the label, the name "Test Icicles" is derived not from the word testicles but rather from an alleged practice of early man involving the "testing" of icicles for their strength and fitness for use as weapons. This, however, is extremely debatable considering the fact that a previous side project of band members Sam and Rory was named "Balls".

Commingling

Commingling, which literally means "mixing together", is a breach of trust in which a fiduciary mixes funds that he holds in the care of a client with his own funds, making it difficult to determine which funds belong to the fiduciary and which belong to the client. This raises particular concerns where the funds are invested, and gains or losses from the investments must be allocated. In such circumstances, the law usually presumes that any gains run to the client and any losses run to the fiduciary who is guilty of commingling.
The problem of commingling is of particular concern in the legal profession. Attorneys are strictly prohibited from commingling their clients funds with their own, and such activity is grounds for disbarment in virtually every jurisdiction, because of the ease of embezzlement and the difficulty of detection. Similar rules apply for licensed real estate brokers handling earnest money and other professionals who hold deposits as agents for clients in absentia.
Commingling is also evidence that may be used in "piercing the corporate veil" of a sham corporation, where a person vainly attempts to shield himself from personal liability through "incorporation", yet fails to observe strict separation of corporate and personal property or accounts, among other improprieties.

Community property

In community property states of the United States, "commingling" non-marital property with marital property can make it community property. For example, depositing money received by an individual through inheritance – ordinarily considered non-marital, individual property – into a joint bank account may transform the money into community property. Most community property states apply a presumption of community property; where there is any commingling the burden of proof is on the party disputing the classification to "trace" the property back to individual property, and demonstrate an intent to keep it separated.

The "What What" video contains numerous examples of imagery symbolizing male homosexuality, anal sex, and the United States. The brown heart which appears throughout the video can be read as a reference to human buttocks, which is where the anus is located. The brown star is most likely meant to invoke the appearance of an anus (although it could also represent the performer's own rising-star status, or both). With the lips located in the center of this star, the image of an anus is again invoked. The purple zeppelin as a phallic reference seems obvious, although the metaphor breaks down when the performer then penetrates it via a rectum-like tube at the base of the vessel. The red, white and blue stripes of the zeppelin's interior, while at first glance appearing to be the French tricolore, in fact more closely resembles the colors of the United States flag. The validity of this reading is strengthened by the presence of the subsequent fireworks display, a clear reference to the independence day ritual of the country in question. Also, the fact that the performer rises through a tube might be a reference to YouTube itself.
