i gotta say, the wedding never clicked with me. this is after EOTO and secret wars and all the surrounding EP's and splits and comp tracks were some of my favorite stuff of all time. its not that i think the wedding's direction isnt fruitful, but it feels tentative in places.

The Wedding wasn't my favorite either. I truly loved Secret Wars and still anticipate everything they do. Has anyone explored the Brah Records catalog?

Zu are really one of the best Italian bands ever. Great people too: check also their side project Ardecore (traditionals sung in Roman dialect, its a must!).

the secret show in london in 2003 that lauren mentions above was a careless talk night, and was amazing. 2 songs, 'sheets of easter' and a cover of husker du's 'new day rising', for about an hour. GOD HEAD.

Alright someone please clarify:
Does the vinyl version of Each One Teach One have a locked groove, or is my copy just fucked? I can't find any info online and it's bugging me.

are you sure that's not just how it's supposed to go?
I left it on for like 20 minutes and it was still playing

Sheets of Easter goes on for 14 minutes...Antibiotics for 16 1/2. That, my good friend, is not fucked vinyl. It is Heaven.
― brightscreamer, Monday, 3 September 2007 16:09 (sixteen years ago) link
Does the needle move? If yes, it's not a locked groove. I saw them play Sheets, right when it came out. I think they were in a "locked groove".
― dan selzer, Monday, 3 September 2007 16:17 (sixteen years ago) link
we put them on in london shortly after it came out on CD, and they played two (2) songs - Sheets of Easter, and then an epic 30 minute cover of 'new day rising'. it was GODLIKE.

did anyone see the "10th anniversary" show at PS1? I was bummed I had to work. I still haven't seen them live and I have like 6 of their records! but I was late to get on board with them, I got The Wedding when it came out and worked my way backward ....
every album I've heard by them is so different, and great in its own way. a couple months ago I was listening to TO SEED AND FLOWER off Anthem over and over. I really need Enamy Hogs ....

I was invited to DJ that PS1 and really would've loved to but had to go to a wedding. My first DJ experience in NY was actually a tiny house party for that same person who got married, but after that all my DJ gigs were at the loft on N. 3rd where Kayrock lived and had their silkscreening set-up. There were many a halloween or random party where Oneida would play and I DJ'd trying to get some kind of dance party started. A little later I got involved with Mighty Robot and the Twisted Ones and spent many nights DJing there, often shows involving Oneida and their pals. The Twisted Ones stopped when Fitz moved to Berlin and Mighty Robot closed down shortly after, so this 10th anniversary show at PS1 with Fitz visiting and DJing seemed like it'd be a really special event and it would've been cool to take part. Still, better yet I was DJing an old friend's wedding and couldn't have asked for a better time.

dmr, you need to hear their side of the "Live at the Clubhouse" split 12" with 25 Suaves, too. I'm glad that there is some record of their PCRZ line up. I miss that guy in Oneida sometimes, he was like the physical incarnation of their sound. I haven't seen them with Double Rainbow, yet. I could make you a tape.

PCRZ! they played the garage in london in 2000 (?) to about 14 people. it was good times. afterwards i got drunk with the band, in that drunken journo fanboy way. we were all hunkered around a tiny table, which i drunkenly managed to pull over myself, twice (2ce). i don't really drink anymore.
anyways, what i remember most of that evening was the heavy amount of classic rock playing on the minibar jukebox, and that with every searing solo that cranked out of the speakers, papa crazy would rise from the table (without knocking it over) and play vigorous and heartfelt air guitar, mane a-flowing. a dude.

This Album Has Been "Rated O"
What can I tell you? Part Two of the Thank Your Parents trilogy is a triple album. I’ve found this information to be confusing to most people and I think the reason for this is a general fatigue for all things Oneida (coming out of my mouth). Now perhaps you’ll think I’m pushing the envelope by daring to suggest that I’m boring you – and I’ll be the first to agree. I’m cutting edge. I know that I’m putting you to sleep and yet I still prattle on about nothing at all!
It’s like the famous review of the Melvins that I’m making up right now, “It was like falling asleep on the barrel of an anti-aircraft gun.” I say this and YET I love the Melvins. Can you keep up?
First: Rated O is Oneida’s next album. It’s a triple album – 3 CDs or 3 LPs – your choice! It is coming out in July and we will be doing a few shows in the US and Europe to celebrate in July and August (of 2009).
Second: We’ve made some recordings of our two “Practice Space” Shows – they sounds sweet and we’re gonna do something with them so you can hear them. No idea when that will happen.
Third: There is an uptick of activity over at Brah Records so you oughta go check that out as well.
We have also just completed a remix of the Constantines’ song “Trans Canada” from their latest joint “Kensington Heights.” I’m not sure where that is and I’m not about to google map it.
I encourage you to contact us with any questions and concerns. . .
