It's not that bad! come on folx.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 15:56 (twelve years ago) link

Given that I have no self-control, I can't stop playing.

molly mummenschanz, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 15:57 (twelve years ago) link

Well me neither. but I've also managed to submit a design mock up for one site and nearly finish building another since this madness has become. Granted I have the manic, ADD-riddled mind of a young child hopped up on chocolate and coke so the paces suits me well.

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 16:02 (twelve years ago) link

That said, I will wait awhile before taking my turn with Molly to give her some breathing space. :)

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 16:03 (twelve years ago) link

wtf?? the ILE group is 'currently unavailable'. so much for my attempts to stalk all your asses out.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 16:05 (twelve years ago) link

my quadrupulous bingo droppage over the last 24 hours is the only thing keeping me going right now in light of last night's PC death. at least they've let me back on now.

blueski, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 16:06 (twelve years ago) link

FB can be quirky. though not nearly so as MySpew.

What's your name ruby? (if you want to post it here)

Ms Misery, Tuesday, 31 July 2007 16:06 (twelve years ago) link

A coworker of mine got a friend request (wich she accepted) from on old friend of her brothers (old as in they hadn't seen each other in years). He then proceed to send an unsolicited email to another (rather attractive) coworker of mine; whom he'd never even met before!
neither of the girls were amused.
i was tho.

The last thing I did before it died was start a game of Scrabulous with you. I'm not sure I want it to come back up now :-(

It's back.

official statement:

"This morning, we temporarily took down the Facebook site to fix a bug we identified earlier today. This was not the result of a security breach. Specifically, the bug caused some third party proxy servers to cache otherwise inaccessible content. The result was that an isolated group of users could see some pages that were not intended for them. The site has now been restored, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

It's not letting me send messages to people now, annoyingly.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 14:28 (twelve years ago) link

people from school friending me and the snowball effect (once you accept their request you feel you should anyone else on their list you also went to school with) is freaking me out right now.

blueski, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 14:28 (twelve years ago) link

nobody from my school seems to be on it. I am assuming this is because I'm old.

Grandpont Genie, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 14:34 (twelve years ago) link

i'm collecting ilxors like baseball cards - eventually, when i have enough, i'm gonna sell them off to some poor fb loser with no friends.

stevienixed, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 14:40 (twelve years ago) link

i don't have schoolfriends' email addies (or they mine) on the whole so that problem hasn't come up, fortch.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 14:53 (twelve years ago) link

that doesn't matter at all - you can just search by name. some lovely old friends have found me in this way.

CharlieNo4, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 14:57 (twelve years ago) link

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 August 2007 15:29 (twelve years ago) link

stevem dyou mean people can't find you by searching for your name?

that's actually a pretty good idea. i've had to block extended family members and stuff.

I love the weird random groups:

Single women who own cats but aren't crazy
Network: Global
Size: 4 members

... four sounds right!

and then there's this piece of work!

I have joined both my primary school and secondary school groups today and it has pretty much confirmed what I said upthread; there is only one person in the secondary school group that I know, the vast majority are either at uni now or graduated in the last couple of years.

Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 2 August 2007 11:07 (twelve years ago) link

Haha - my latest friend has Rowetta as one of his friends.

Dr.C, Thursday, 2 August 2007 11:30 (twelve years ago) link

Dr.C, Thursday, 2 August 2007 11:48 (twelve years ago) link

LOL people posting their phone numbers where anyone can see.

jessie monster, Thursday, 2 August 2007 13:14 (twelve years ago) link

There's a whole bunch of people I can't befriend on Facebook because I don't know their real names. Sad? Yes.

accentmonkey, Thursday, 2 August 2007 13:21 (twelve years ago) link

what about those who have gotten married. include maiden names people!

Ms Misery, Thursday, 2 August 2007 13:24 (twelve years ago) link

You tease. (xxxpost)

Accentmonkey, problem is that I can't spell the surnames and have no way of checking. I am sad panda :(

bugger it.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Monday, 6 August 2007 18:46 (twelve years ago) link

umm, my facebook news feed is going crazy. It's saying things like "9 of your friends have written on so-and-so's wall", when like one person has actually written on it.

What's the deal? Have other people noticed this? oh god.

Drooone, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 00:29 (twelve years ago) link

Okay someone from school has just tried to friend me - I've not seen him since the age of 16. Usually I am prepared to give people from school the benefit of the doubt, even if I didn't like them at the time. Then I read his profile, including choice cuts like:

"Religious Views: 102% agnostic -2% catholic 100% millwall"

"Favorite Books: Do androids dream of electic sheep? other than that
biographies of heroes of mine.
The bible, because it's really really funny.
razzle, readers wives, h & e "

and in particular:

"Interests: Football, other things too, like football, millwall, naked
swedish ladies table tennis (with or without the ball), topless farts,
knob gags, growing my beard. "

As I said, I am usually willing to give people from school the benefit of the doubt - in this case I am considering deleting my Facebook profile, leaving the country and having reconstructive surgery so that he can never find me.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 08:53 (twelve years ago) link

knob gags? is that what I think it is?

nathalie, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 09:17 (twelve years ago) link

Haha I dont think anyone from school will find me, unless they know my email address which is very unlikely.

Today I sent a msg to an old housemate of mine from Canberra. I'm pretty sure its him, he has an unusual name. I hope he replies, it'd be cool to catch up with him.

Trayce, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 09:20 (twelve years ago) link

I had my first message from an ex-girlfriend a couple of days ago. But she finished with me because she decided she was gay (yes, I'm that bad) so there's no awkwardness around it, it was actually a pleasant surprise.

Colonel Poo, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 09:44 (twelve years ago) link

Oh dear. I just rofled. Sorry CP.

kv_nol, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 09:48 (twelve years ago) link

knob gags? is that what I think it is?

No.

But she finished with me because she decided she was gay

This has happened to me too. She's now married. To my then best friend.

Mark C, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 09:52 (twelve years ago) link

Actually that's disingenuous. He wasn't my best friend until a year or so after I dated her.

Mark C, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 09:53 (twelve years ago) link

Oh she really is gay, it wasn't a line. She lives in Brighton now, even!
