Yellow Swans Break Up

Fair enough in turn. I've only seen the group live a bunch of times, but I don't own any Yellow Swans.

(i like Wolf Eyes and Iron Lung a lot more than all of the above, fwiw.)

i really liked them live when i saw them, very nice swoosh.

never bought any of their records.

my friend tom is putting a new record by them in summer and they are playing a show for the anniversary of his label (modern radio):

Our second release by Portland’s Yellow Swans is a CD called Deterioration. These 57 minutes of pure bliss is likely to be their final CD release. After playing around the world and releasing a ton of amazing material, Yellow Swans are calling it a day. They have a few remaining shows scheduled this summer including one last Twin Cities performance as part of the 9 year anniversary. So don't forget to see them Friday, June 6th at the Triple Rock.

fair enough. i've only listened to a few yellow swans records and they seemed pretty run-of-the-mill guitar/electronics/voice slow-drift-drone action, like any number of less-intellectual American Taj Mahal Travelers wannabes.

Very run of the mill. Much better at putting out tons of records, touring constantly and making lots of noise friends than actually making music.

hey M@tt that Shadow Government band is good too! Do you know them? We have a CD at my radio station now.

yeah i've seen them a bunch...they are from iowa but they have some members that live in mpls so they play here a lot? which one do you have? the new one is the black & white album which is great but also the first one "guns of august" is amazing...if you ever have a chance to see them live they are amazing, 2 drummers, big dub bass, fugazi guitars, and the one dude on krautrock type electronics...(the main guy who does the electronics i guess used to play hammond organ for andre williams, weird)

You're first problem is that you're expecting Wolf Eyes albums to be listenable.

I got the Yellow Swans/Ex Cocaine split. I was really into both sides but I think I like Ex Cocaine more. I like pretty much anything not not fun puts out.

well i've hung out a few times with gabe and pete and find them to be charming and smart individuals. actually had dinner with pete last night; i know him a lot better than gabe. i can see how gabe might grate with some personalities but not with me...

i am v. psyched to see them tonight with excepter at a goth gamer coffee bar called backspace in portland. never listen to their records and really have always thought of them as a live band. guess that'll have to change now though...

yeah pete seems like the most likeable noise dude ever, always cool to talk music over the mail. gave me lotsa DUB tips too

one of the few US noize groups to actually come to NZ, so points for that. the cd w/Birchville Cat Motel is not as good as Birchville Cat Motel by hisself, tho.
