(Oddly, there are no 'completed' auctions, but several 'current' ones)
It's infectious, but it's madly out of date, ironically.
In as much as, an album that he describes as 'findable for a few quid' will now go for bigger bucks. Probably because of his book.
Also, various lyrics and stuff are completely wrong, but I dunno, it may be on purpose. "One eyed soul, mushroom head, I gonna get my kicks there" umm, no.

In the latest issue of Mojo someone asks about Cope's book and apparently there are no plans to reprint it. Mojo then says that copies go for around £100 on ebay which may explain the sudden increase in copies listed.

never quite says "dead"
then: I hear "I gonna keep my despair"
The Jesus & Mary Chain hear "I gotta keep my distance"
Which are not so far different...

Haven't read it but it got a bad review in The Wire a few months back ("astonishingly lax...unconvincing and obsolete"). Personally I wouldn't bother with it, David Stubbs' book is definitive.
― heaven parker (anagram), Friday, 10 November 2017 08:57 (six years ago) link
Stubbs book is really good yeah, it only really loses focus with the 80s chapters and maybe the Kraftwerk one, but he managed to get access to most of the major figures (in some cases just in time).

shd note i think that the stubbs book owes a *lot* to geeta dayal's pioneeriing work

It does? How so? Just curious.

Thanks anagram. Will look for that review in the Wire, and then probably get Stubbs' book.
