Right now, my favorite band is the Vulgar Boatmen, so anything like that would be appreciated.

Also, Michael Hall. But especially get this The Setters, which is Walter Salas-Humara (Silos), Michael Hall, and Alejandro Escovedo.

Primitons and The Ho-Ho Men were both descendants of Jim Bob And The Leisure Suits, though I don't remember how well any of them would fit any notion of jangle.

Yeah I posted the live version, whereas the album is a classic indie 80s sound, love the guitar and unadorned sound...now I gotta go back and revisit the rest of that Brazilian "new wave" that was on that comp.

I'm pissed this wasn't on American college radio back in the day.
