You can sing the words of "She walks in beauty," by Lord Byron, to the same tune, so, classic.

Love the snare sound. But I can do without the mannered falsetto. YMMV.

FYC are all about the mannered falsetto.

I'm still flabbergasted that these guys scored two # 1 singles and a #1 album. Anyway, there's better stuff on the album, but not much better.

I think Classic because I can imitate his voice on this song pretty well.

Billy Pilgrim (Billy Pilgrim), Monday, 27 June 2005 18:46 (eighteen years ago) link

I much prefer their classic-soulful stuff.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 27 June 2005 18:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Love, love, love their Buzzcocks and Elvis covers.

That singer was one wierd lookin' cat. CLASSIC!

ZionTrain (ZionTrain), Monday, 27 June 2005 19:09 (eighteen years ago) link

no joke, this is my least favorite song of all time. I had to be about 6 when it came out and I hated it then. His vocals make me shudder, no man should be able to make that sound.

How do you feel about their other songs?

Alex in NYC....who was 22 when this song came out (vassifer), Monday, 27 June 2005 19:28 (eighteen years ago) link

haven't bothered to give them a second chance since that particular single. Should I?

kevin says relax (daddy warbuxx), Monday, 27 June 2005 19:36 (eighteen years ago) link

It's really too bad that he couldn't sing live.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 27 June 2005 19:39 (eighteen years ago) link

I never thought "She Drives Me Crazy" was particular indicative of them, but if it's the man's voice that bugs you, I'd steer clear.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Monday, 27 June 2005 19:40 (eighteen years ago) link

For a long time I couldn't work out if he was singing "She drives me crazy / Like no one can," or "Her long blonde hair." Perhaps I still can't.

Never liked it, probably never will.

Any faux Motown/Stax/English Beat bands on the college charts these days?

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Tuesday, 26 July 2005 01:11 (eighteen years ago) link

His vocals make me shudder, no man should be able to make that sound.

Including H Wayne Casey (KC & The Sunshine Band)?
