Who's the sporty fella in the video who isn't Pat Cash or Colin Jackson? Audley Harrison? Based on the 45 seconds I saw on The Hits channel it's the Single Of The Year, just ahead of Jamelia's "Thank You", but I don't know what I'm talking about or even what that means.

It has to be somebody the BBC could have got at the time, which would put Harrison in line. However, he doesn't like them anymore, so he'll probably get replaced by John Regis or Andy Fordham.

Perhaps more importantly... WHERE CAN ONE HEAR HER COVER OF "KNOCK ON WOOD"? It'll either be the best thing or worst thing ever...

This song is really fucking awesome. And she looks properly good in the video, too - the weird hair actually suits her!

I still haven't heard "The Show", grr grr.

How 'The Show' might sound, perhaps

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 10:23 (nineteen years ago) link

I spent the last 2 weeks hearing the last 10 seconds of "The Show" on radio in the car and getting very upset when Slsk wasn't working to get it. it was incredibly annoying.

'Some Girls'.

The charity event it is attached to for no reason whatsoever is Sport Relief.

I'm glad someone else loves it too!

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 27 June 2004 11:26 (nineteen years ago) link

We all have to love "Some Girls" - it's the song of the year (so far) for me.

Jedmond (Jedmond), Sunday, 27 June 2004 12:36 (nineteen years ago) link

First third of 2004 was all about "Milkshake" vs "Toxic" vs "Yeah". Second third (the summer!) is "Some Girls" vs "The Show".

The lyrics haven't been mentioned yet! They're brilliant and funny, and I like the way she pretty much demands that we send her to No 1. Also, the "my baby drives a car" and "my baby waits for me" are magnificent - capturing a mood without ever meaning anything specific. Oh yeah, and the "hey!"s are GREAT too.

It's not as good as Galang.
