C'mon, man, you live in the state. Hitch a ride in with Andy one day and complain.

I am just bitter because I am not cool/talented enough to be part of the AMG mafia.

Heh.

I was not being serious up thread. Politics aside, I do not consider myself enough of a writer to even bother the folks at AMG. There are a lot of people on ILM who are far more clever and deserving of that job.

In all seriousness tho, where are the bios and top 10 lists on the AMG site? I have come across them before from direct ILM links, but I cannot seem to find them from the index page.

My top ten is missing at the moment because it's under repair, but my bio is here.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 14:20 (twenty years ago) link

The press release for SYL points out that the inspiration behind the album was borne out of the horror surrounding the events of 9/11, and, later, says bluntly, "This is, without question, war music."

RATMFM then, Sean?

i'd like to meet francois couture. anyone that knowledgeable about frank zappa is worth my time, any day.

!!

sean's bio!

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 18:13 (twenty years ago) link

Haha, Strapping Young Lad! I actually have no idea who that Sean C is but it's not me; there's another person out there with my name who transcribes Bad Religion songs, and another one who's a cyclist and/or a badminton player.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 18:18 (twenty years ago) link

The credit stays.

You're both Canadian. That's close enough.

Yet more back bacon jokes! *hides*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 18:27 (twenty years ago) link

Whatever happened to your bio, Andy? It was excellent.

Which one? I nuked it (them). (Thanks.)

Bios are searchable from the search field on the front page. There will be 2003 best-of lists linked on the front within the next week or two.

I am disappointed that no one is obsessing over the recent AMG appearances on VH1. (Or am I?)

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:00 (twenty years ago) link

Hey cool, should I send in my best of 2003 lists now that my desert island discs are gone?

I don't get VH1 or I'd be raving about STE's appearances. You should redesign the banner on the site to feature a picture of him sitting there facing the camera with his chin in his hand, looking very thoughtful and scholarly.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:02 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, what's this about best ofs? YOU IGNORE ME? ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:06 (twenty years ago) link

If it makes you feel any better, Ned, I try to ignore you too. (Especially after yet another back bacon comment. But whatever, I had back bacon today and it was very tasty, even if they called it "peameal bacon". So pbbbt.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:11 (twenty years ago) link

(AND NO I DIDN'T GUZZLE MAPLE SYRUP TO WASH IT DOWN)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:11 (twenty years ago) link

(Okay, but only a little.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:12 (twenty years ago) link

If we had all of the freelancers submit year-end lists, we'd have to replicate at least three editors.

These new VH1 appearances weren't Tom!

Andy K (Andy K), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:12 (twenty years ago) link

Heather "Thuggish" Phares!

Leee Smith (Leee), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 19:20 (twenty years ago) link

Andy-- did they use the famed Theakston ones??

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 21:07 (twenty years ago) link

What VH1 shows have AMG personnel been appearing on? I thought VH1 was all sex and celebrity gossip these days. ("hur hur they don't play music anymore hur hur")

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 6 January 2004 21:12 (twenty years ago) link

Hey Ned,
You gave my old band 4 stars and a red tick, thank you!

mzui, Saturday, 17 January 2004 09:05 (twenty years ago) link

I did? Who's yer old band, then?

Well hey, you're welcome! And it was and is a fine album, that. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 January 2004 16:10 (twenty years ago) link

Hey Ned, what's your Best Of 2003 list then? Hmm?

Stupid (Stupid), Saturday, 17 January 2004 17:14 (twenty years ago) link

Pazz/Jop will have it up in a few weeks (though I forgot the Kenna and Marc Almond albums, much to my chagrin).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 17 January 2004 19:30 (twenty years ago) link

Kenna was very good but definitely not top ten either on the singles or albums for me this year. I think Freetime snags my #1 video of the year, though.
