Much.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:51 (twenty years ago) link

oh, we can change that right quick.

since roadtrips are being undertaken(undertook?), please head eastward after you pick up Mann. Canadian bands tell me that you can get back across the border easiest in Montana, then you're only two time zones away from michigan!

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:54 (twenty years ago) link

Okay - I can pick up one more person then - unless someone wants to ride in the trunk (which has a safety release, btw).

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:55 (twenty years ago) link

*whistles idly*

oops (Oops), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:57 (twenty years ago) link

boy, if you mean to come along, yer gettin' strapped the hood.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:58 (twenty years ago) link

once again, what I thought was a romantic rendezvous turns out to be a carpool

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:59 (twenty years ago) link

"Strapped the hood"? How quaint.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 5 January 2004 20:59 (twenty years ago) link

Ned, it's the new standard of romance.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:01 (twenty years ago) link

autoerotica?

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:02 (twenty years ago) link

Aww, I just didn't want you to think I only wanted one thing, Huck.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:07 (twenty years ago) link

well that much is obvious!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:09 (twenty years ago) link

Right, two things.
And whoyoutalkin' to, K-fish?

oops (Oops), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:10 (twenty years ago) link

But I... I mean, I... well, um... but there's th... yeah ok.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:11 (twenty years ago) link

What, no cherries? Philistine!

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:25 (twenty years ago) link

No, I just couldn't deny what he said.

No gelato - I'm cold. Besides, I like spumoni better.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:28 (twenty years ago) link

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:35 (twenty years ago) link

Better. I'm still too cold though. The AC is set on 'Arctic Circle at Three AM on the Coldest Day of the Year" in this bitch.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:40 (twenty years ago) link

Crack the thermostat open and change it, Luna. Simple.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:46 (twenty years ago) link

use the skull of your cow-orker, if you need to.

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:47 (twenty years ago) link

I'm not a moron - the fucking thing doesn't work. You can't change it more than 3 degrees at a time, or it shuts down and defaults to 'really fucking cold'.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:47 (twenty years ago) link

Fuck. Why would you need the AC in CA in *mid-Winter*? The lawyers afraid of falling asleep?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:50 (twenty years ago) link

chair thru the window?

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:51 (twenty years ago) link

Mid winter in LA is practically high summer everywhere else.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 5 January 2004 21:54 (twenty years ago) link

It snowed today!

Kingfishee (Kingfish), Monday, 5 January 2004 22:06 (twenty years ago) link

(Nichole, thanks, things have gotten a bit better. They always do, somewhat)

Now I don't remember what I was going to say. Hi. Yay for the car, Luna!

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 5 January 2004 22:20 (twenty years ago) link

once again, what I thought was a romantic rendezvous turns out to be a carpool

MsLaura to thread.

Hi. I'm back. New York was big and overwhelming and it was nice to see friends and family but the city wore me down. I'm very glad not to live there anymore.

Anyway. I've been debating whether to come back to ILX or not, after my 2-week sabbatical, but... well, I'm putting my toes in the water.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 00:48 (twenty years ago) link

Do come back!

I'm so jealous that you all got to chit chat away today!

I was at my new job, which went just fine thanks for asking. But I don't foresee any ILXing there for a very long time. In fact, my boss was sitting at my desk showing me how to do some data entry and she deleted my short cut to the internet saying, "Oh, you won't be needing thissssss...." It was all very slow-motion and traumatic. Ha ha. But not really. It's quite empowering to be the sole money maker.

JuliaA, I promise I'll be setting up a meeting with you in the not so far future. I'm still in that settling in phase. In fact, I was able to walk to that bar where we met up with Kenan and Jaymc and Jessa (though it was quite a longer walk than I had imagined).

Luna, I just watched Down with Love again, which takes place in New York, but the beautiful summer's day fireplace made me think of California.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:26 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, Chris, please stay. I'm saying this selfishly of course because you make me laugh.

I didn't realize that you were starting work already, Sarah! I hope your boss leaves you some space once you've adjusted so you can grace us with your presence.

I just got an email about being past due on my phone bill, with threats to disconnect and everything. Past due amount: $3.00. Once I got past the panic of contemplating disconnection, I had to laugh.
I need to get my silly inattentive brane together, I am far too frequently confusedly messing up on things and then getting threatening notices.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 02:45 (twenty years ago) link

Oh I also forgot to mention that I got the Petrified Forest CD, which is sweet but which I've only listened to once. I like how Chris's artwork came out!

Down With Love was on the plane out to NYC, and it wasn't my kind of movie -- it was really painfully predictable -- but I am a curmedgeon who doesn't like movies so don't mind me. They played Johnny English on the way back -- you know, "Rowan Atkinson in Bond spoof"? -- and that looked dreadful.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 03:47 (twenty years ago) link

Hey to everyone! Glad the first day at work went ok Sarah. Hi Nichole, how was your holiday(away from ILX)? Nice car Luna!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:35 (twenty years ago) link

ALL I HAVE IN TIHS WORLD IS MY BALS AND MY WORLRD I DONT BREAK THEM

Amazing Randy (Amazing Randy), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 12:42 (twenty years ago) link

So you did use my artwork dudes? Can I get a copy of the cd? Glad to see the move went well.

Hooray for Luna's new ride! Im jealous!

Past due threats for $3.00, got to love it. At least my pst due threats are like "your $250 past due." Once my electric bill was $1000. I hate bills, obviously sometimes I hate paying them...

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 13:15 (twenty years ago) link

Chris, email me yr address and we'll mail you a copy. I'm supposed to send one to my mom too. Ha ha.
It's weird being the lazy unemployed one in the relationship. I am looking for jobs, I promise.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 14:08 (twenty years ago) link

Done

Chris V (Chris V), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 14:10 (twenty years ago) link

HI CHRIS!
I got your book yesterday. Well, it's my book now! Thanks!

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 15:01 (twenty years ago) link

I want to go home and listen to "Waterloo Sunset" all day long.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 15:33 (twenty years ago) link

Belated happy new year folks. (Apart from you, Mark since I was at yr party)

This is my second day back at work after a two week break which now seems like a distant memory. I'm trying to work up the willpower to go running this evening in order to mount a Shock & Awe style attack on the additional belly developed over Xmas. Could someone shout some encouraging fitness guru-style slogans at me? Thx!

robster (robster), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 15:49 (twenty years ago) link

I have a friend coming round after work today who I haven't seen for a while (she is s'posed to be my best friend, although you'd be forgiven for not noticing) & I am really nervous about it because we recently had a huge argument due to my being unsatisfied with an 'email relationship'. She was really shocked & was really nasty. We haven't discussed it since, but should I mention it, or just pretend it never happened? I am real worried, cos I really couldn't deal with any confrontation at the moment. (not that this is likely)

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:11 (twenty years ago) link

I will, Rob.

FEEL THE BURN!!

That is all I am going to say.

Sarah (starry), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:18 (twenty years ago) link

Heh. Enjoy it, Huck. I hope it's as surprisingly amusing as I remember it being.

The only thing I'm looking forward to about today is the few inches of snow awaiting me. Yay snow!

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:45 (twenty years ago) link

Yesterday it was -49 Celsius (windchill incl.) when I left for work. Today, it was like -30 Celsius. I am wearing a speedo. On my head.

Huckleberry Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:48 (twenty years ago) link

Oh my fucking Christ. I'm glad it's not that cold here. I only had a t-shirt under my coat when I went out and I came back moist.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 16:52 (twenty years ago) link

That's because you live under the sea.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 17:06 (twenty years ago) link

I have gills!

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 17:23 (twenty years ago) link

Good luck pp. I don't think you should mention it unless it becomes obvious that it's hanging over the evening like a lead cloud.

Rob: see the pain barrier? Run away from it. Slowly.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 17:25 (twenty years ago) link

I have discovered that being unemployed and home all day alone because it's really fucking cold outside creates a combination of emotions:
* Boredom.
* Guilt because I should be making complete use of this time off by being creative/cleaning house/actually looking for a job instead of watching Father Ted DVDs over and over.
* The wish that I could just relax and enjoy this time off.
* Loneliness.
* The desire to go out and spend lots of money on fun stuff, combined with the knowledge that I can't because I don't have a job.
* Happiness because I'm not at work, and guilt because I should be at work.

Hi. I'm actually doing pretty good. I'm just kind of sick of being in the house. I went for a walk and my face froze, fell off, and shattered on the sidewalk. I think I'm going slowly insane. But I'm glad to be in Chicago and not at my old job and in an exciting new phase of my life. A faceless phase. A phaseless face. Weird. I just had a cold, so I recorded a song with low growly Calvin Johnson vocals. That was fun. Hi.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 21:31 (twenty years ago) link

Thanks Archel! It was fine anyway & so didn't have to be mentioned.

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 08:55 (twenty years ago) link

Glad to hear things went ok pp.

Starry & Archel: Cheers guys - burn duly felt. Pain barrier was deftly avoided through proper stretching. Feeling achy this morning though.
