i'm just so giddy. sorry matt & dan - yall have adrian peterson, i can't have that much sympathy tbh - but i'm just plain giddy over this. watching favre meltdown gives me more joy than almost anything PLUS HE HAS OFFICIALLY TURNED HIS BACK ON THE PACKERS.

geir ham, go (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 19:13 (fourteen years ago) link

I would be giddy if he was doing this to the Bears!

i want someone to go back and tally up how many times he's said that he's changed his mind wrt to various teams. i don't have the archive searching skills i don't think.

now that he has gone over to the dark side as far as GB is concerned, if he has any sense of theater he will pull off a Vader-style NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! on the first of his many picks. that is the only thing that will redeem him in my eyes.

Can't wait for this press conference today.

my current thoughts about vikes management are vulgar and obscene and i prefer not to write them out for the record.

"now that he has gone over to the dark side as far as GB is concerned"

He should absolutely play it up. Wear a black cape and taunt the crowd just like in wrestling. Maybe bash a Green Bay assistant coach with a folding chair.

RS i can't think of why the vikes D will be worse this year though

desperately trying to remember exactly what it was that made me convinced of this but in lieu of having anything to back it up i am going to stand by it and be an asshole about it for a while and hope Favre throws enough picks that their offence only plays 9 snaps a game and the defence dies of exhaustion. if i come up with anything more concrete i'll be sure to let yall know.

lol schlereth and cris carter are destroying the vikes and childress. schlereth taking down shanahan for good measure.

schlereth taking down shanahan

whoa, you BIT the hand marty! you BIT THE HAND!

(what did he say?)

iro with the brown bag (Hunt3r), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 22:11 (fourteen years ago) link

they were talking about how a head coach who loses credibility in the eyes of players can never count on them to go above and beyond. schlereth told a long story about how for four years whenever the broncos played the chiefs, shanahan would rip on dale carter and say he wasn't tough enough, man enough, etc. to be a bronco. after four, the broncs signed carter and made him the highest paid dude on the team, letting go some other v. well-liked guy in the process. schlereth claims from that day forward shanahan lost part of the team.

grain of salt and all but you usually don't hear stuff like this on sportscenter.

'mentally tired'

( ´_ゝ˙) (Dr. Phil), Tuesday, 18 August 2009 22:22 (fourteen years ago) link

lol how should vikings fans feel that 3 weeks ago their new starting qb didn't feel that physically he could play at a level that was acceptable.

and that soreness in both ankles and his left knee worsened and would not subside during private workouts.

and that he felt he could "never get over the mental hump" that his body wouldn't hold up for a full season.

i like the teaser for link to doug gottlieb show:

"Ed Werder talks about Brett Favre deciding to stay retired. He doesn't see Brett returning again. With Favre's decision, what will Werder cover now?"

okay i caught this in the middle of things, but should he really be cataloguing how broken his body is right now?

horseshoe, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 22:50 (fourteen years ago) link

except for his impressive ability to manipulate ppl and situations he really is dumb as a bag of rocks.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 22:50 (fourteen years ago) link

guys he's still saying, "you never know."

horseshoe, Tuesday, 18 August 2009 22:52 (fourteen years ago) link

i think he's referring to whether his body will physically disintegrate when he steps on the field, not whether he'll retire in the next five minutes, but still
