Which track actually has "Isn't it amazing" as a vocal?

I *LOVE* this so much, and thank you ILM 2003 for introducing me to it.

i prefer immer to this i think

creme1, Friday, 20 July 2007 02:02 (sixteen years ago) link

i prefer immer 2 to both of them!

tricky, Friday, 20 July 2007 02:19 (sixteen years ago) link

listened to this yesterday after seeing this thread. i believe i shall do so again now.

haitch, Friday, 20 July 2007 03:59 (sixteen years ago) link

in response to the first thread...

yes. it is good.

Hamildan, Friday, 20 July 2007 16:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Immer 2 deserves more attention (and a second chance or three).

It lacks the immediate first impression of Immer as well as the easier accessibility of Fabric 13, but Immer 2's so shimmerier and slinkier.

dblcheeksneek, Friday, 20 July 2007 18:04 (sixteen years ago) link

immer 2 took a few second chances with me, but it is now my favorite of the three (the other two are still tip top obv.). it is really good late at night on headphones.

This is probably my favourite mix album ever.

Is his Mantasy album any good? (Or is there conversation about it elsewhere?)

djh, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 21:03 (eleven years ago) link

Mantasy isn't very exciting but I like it just fine.

Recommend his RA podcast from the end of last year, like it better than the album, up there with his older mixes.

Plasmon, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 23:51 (eleven years ago) link

Read a description of it as "middle aged" which actually made it appeal.

djh, Thursday, 21 March 2013 18:10 (eleven years ago) link

Mantasy is a nice sort of Sundayish album to sit and read to but it's not really house music, until you get to the final third at least. It's beautifully produced and there's some lovely stuff on it though.

Cosign the recommendation for the RA podcast though, that's essential.

Matt DC, Thursday, 21 March 2013 19:19 (eleven years ago) link

Ta. Any recommendations on tracks to here from Mantasy? The couple I've played have been a bit ... nothing, really.

Will hunt down the podcast.

you might want this too, if you fancy a 12-hour michael mayer mix at all

Thanks. Where's a good place to find "archived" RA podcasts?

djh, Thursday, 21 March 2013 20:41 (eleven years ago) link

most of them are up on soundcloud - http://soundcloud.com/medellinstyle/michael-mayer-resident-advisor

The RA mix is pretty good. Mentioned a couple times in other Mayer threads but his mix for John Peel was pretty great albeit short. I re-uploaded it since the blog I found it on had it on Megaupload. <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ydgy868f9f9cy81";>Link</a> and <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/tracklistings/peel_archive_shtml.shtml?20030318";>tracklisting</a>.

Loads of the old mixes are worth checking out. The really ancient Michael Mayer presents Kompakt Koln, I think it's called that, is amazing.

Tioc Norris (LocalGarda), Monday, 25 March 2013 08:08 (eleven years ago) link

This is a classic from 2002......pologies if it's been linked to before. Currently no download available on the SC page unfortunately: soundcloud.com/bloxon/michael-mayer-love-family-park-07-07-2002

The 42 Cows in Town & Klubfilter medley (@ 39 and 44 mins) is immense.

millmeister, Monday, 25 March 2013 11:00 (eleven years ago) link

That John Peel set is probably the pinnacle of all schaffel for me - the double victory lap of "Unter Null" followed by the T.Raumschmiere remix of "Ich Weiss Warum" is astonishing.

Tim F, Monday, 25 March 2013 12:23 (eleven years ago) link

Whoops, I suck at formatting. ilx encoded the ? as %3F on the second link and picked up a quotation mark on the first.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ydgy868f9f9cy81

Yes, this is def *the* schaffel mix. I've heard Superpitcher's rmx of Quark's I Walk on at least 2 diff commercial mixes (Optimo & Ivan Smagghe's) but neither are as sleek and sexy as it is on there for me.

rawr, Tuesday, 26 March 2013 03:10 (eleven years ago) link

Tim, what's the name of the track I quoted the other day with the really squelchy voccoder? I think it comes right before Unter Null.

the Shearer of simulated snowsex etc. (Dwight Yorke), Tuesday, 26 March 2013 09:52 (eleven years ago) link

1. Mikkel Metal - 'Testan' (Kompakt)
2. Superpitcher - 'Grace' (Kompakt)
3. Quarks - 'I Walk (Superpitcher Shaffel Mix)' (Kompakt Extra)
4. Wassermann - 'W.I.R' (Profan) - presumably from this 12"?
5. Michael Mayer/ Reinhard Voigt - 'Unter Null' (Kompakt)
6. 2Raumwohnung - 'Ich Weiss Warum (T.Raumschmiere Remix)' (IT Sounds)
