BLACK METAL FAP!

I think we should follow our latent goth tendencies whilst we're out there. Holiday Goths.

Plan!

alix (alix), Monday, 21 February 2005 17:24 (nineteen years ago) link

"So is anyone else up for Tiga-2ManyDJs-Black Strobe on Saturday then?"

I totally am. TOTALLY! And Matt, I find it hard to believe you couldn't handle three nights of dancemania in a row. Don't start sewing the seeds of possible cancellation, yo!

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Monday, 21 February 2005 21:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Barima you forgot Tim F in that there list.

Nah, Steve-n's a red herring ;-).

Club Make Like A Circus Seal on Fri could be a go, but only if there are sexpots.

Don't start sewing the seeds of possible cancellation, yo!

Haha, you know me too well ;) I suspect that making sure I behave myself on Thursday will be the key to this.

Too verdamnt expensive.

Deerninja B4rim4, Plus-Tech Whizz Kid (Barima), Thursday, 24 February 2005 20:21 (nineteen years ago) link

15 pound seems like the norm in london for anything good., eg fabric etc. apart from plastic people, there no where good for cheap

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 24 February 2005 22:34 (nineteen years ago) link

Jeez that looks like a fun show

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 24 February 2005 22:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Actually, Ambrose, the massive UK hip hop night currently playing at Rhythm Factory that I'm too tired to go to is a fiver in.

Deerninja B4rim4, Plus-Tech Whizz Kid (Barima), Thursday, 24 February 2005 23:13 (nineteen years ago) link

haha b4rim4, these guys i know are the backing band something for that night! they haver to learn all the estelle tunes or something and render them in a live stylee. mental.

and yeh obviously there are odd thigns, i was exaggerating quite a bit. but i expect to pay about 10 quid for 1/2 hrs pure enjoyment out of a 3/4 hr night. you know , the time when you are just really having fun instead of feeling tired or being pused or too hot or just waiting for someone to come on etc.

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 25 February 2005 18:20 (nineteen years ago) link

i'll be back in london for a couple of days in the first or second week of june -- any idea what's happening then?

geeta (geeta), Friday, 25 February 2005 19:26 (nineteen years ago) link

I see the statue of Kelly Holmes in Trafalgar Square coming to life with fearful consequence and only four men with proton packs on their backs, fire in their hearts and steel in their bellies will stand a hope against it.

NOBODY STEPS ON A PUB IN MY TOWN!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 26 February 2005 17:18 (nineteen years ago) link

is anyone going to Tiefschwarz/Alter Ego at the Key on Saturday? I have not decided yet.

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 7 March 2005 15:22 (nineteen years ago) link

I will probably be up for that.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 7 March 2005 15:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Right now the last thing I have the energy for is another allnighter. This could well change by the weekend though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 7 March 2005 16:24 (nineteen years ago) link

Broke again so doubtful for me...

Sven Bastard (blueski), Monday, 7 March 2005 16:28 (nineteen years ago) link

I may bypass London for Glasgow at the end of April, Mayer/Kohncke, I can't really decide and I have to see about money. Maybe I could go to Get Physical in June, but possibly too close to Glastonbury. It's one big decisions nightmare.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 7 March 2005 21:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Get Physical is almost certainly out for me now. Its my flatmate's birthday weekend and his plans are highly unlikely to run to six hours of electro.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 09:45 (nineteen years ago) link

i think i'd like to do...something

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 09:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Trash on Easter Monday anyone? I have that entire week off between jobs and although I'm supposed to be using it to rest and unwind it'd be a waste not to have one big night out.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 10:00 (nineteen years ago) link

So long as I'm not living in a cardboard box somewhere in London, I s'pose I could. I've still never been to Trash.

BARMS, Tuesday, 8 March 2005 11:20 (nineteen years ago) link

Steve and I are gonna be rockin' at Cut Copy tonight tho', SUCKERS.

BARMS, Tuesday, 8 March 2005 11:25 (nineteen years ago) link

did you get my txt? i need to know what time he's gonna be on as i want to watch the Chelsea match first!

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 11:37 (nineteen years ago) link

8.30, I think (educated guess, see the CC thread on ILM). Just meet me at Old St at 7 and we'll find a pub to watch it first.

BARMS, Tuesday, 8 March 2005 12:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Vitalic, The Hacker & Agoria are playing together as part of that Encompass Conference thing at the end of April, they'll probably be some other ace nights around the same time. Not too sure what the deal will be for tickets though - whether they'll let the proles in as well, or if you have to pay 30 quid for a day ticket to the whole bloody thing.

Also Twitch & Wilkes of Optimo are doing Our Disco at Plastic People Friday March 18th.

MattR (MattR), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 15:27 (nineteen years ago) link

8.30? disastrous...7 at Old St it is anyway

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 15:39 (nineteen years ago) link

i'm up for Twitchy Disco as well

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 15:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Seconded. Sorry about the footy.

BARMS, Tuesday, 8 March 2005 15:46 (nineteen years ago) link

so what is on this friday, this saturday, next friday and next saturday

i'd like to go to something electroish, but, i think, i'd like to go to something indie too

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 15:55 (nineteen years ago) link

DJ Yoda and James Hyman at Cargo on Friday for me probably, part business

Saturday is bridge night

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 15:57 (nineteen years ago) link

Friday is either work-drinks/old uni friend/babysitting. Saturday is the middle option.

G, you may as well hit the Key on Sat, and maybe Islington on Fri.

BARMS, Tuesday, 8 March 2005 15:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Saturday is Tiefschwarz and Alter Ego, which is still tempting me, although there's a party I might go to that night as well. I thought you were being sensible and staying in on Saturday, Gareth?

Isn't Vitalic playing Cargo at some point soon?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:03 (nineteen years ago) link

Thats probably the Encompass thingy - they're taking over Cargo, 93 Feet East, Vibe and a few other venues. Should be loadsa stuff happening, but as I said, I don't know what the deal will be with tickets for most of it.

MattR (MattR), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:10 (nineteen years ago) link

April 30 for Vitalic, I think.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:12 (nineteen years ago) link

Wow. Its like the electrohouse version of the Camden Crawl!*

*Remember that, indie kids?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:22 (nineteen years ago) link

Camden Crawl stills goes on, not that i'd participate

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:23 (nineteen years ago) link

There's an act on the Camden Crawl I recall wanting to see but can't recall at all.

BARMS, Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:23 (nineteen years ago) link

What is a Camden Crawl? It does not sound tempting.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:25 (nineteen years ago) link

i should stay in on saturday really

but...friday? what is on friday?

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Camden Crawl is indie, Lex, back after a few years' hiatus. So, no, you wouldn't find it tempting.

is there much good stuff on this coming week?

lundy fastnet irish sea (cis), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Friday: Club Seal for indie, Our Disco for electro, Cargo for audiovisualclashtricks, Don't Stop Me Now at The Garage ('indie pop/girls'), How Does It Feel To Be Indie at Buffalo Bar, Stay Beautiful at The Purple Turtle (now with added Bravery), The Queen Is Dead at The Borderline (indiefuckingpopagainlikeeverywhereelsebutdoanyoftheseclubsplaytheknifenotheydont),

more here

Sven Bastard (blueski), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:37 (nineteen years ago) link

i think i may go out. pick up a piece of caution and throw it gingerly into the breeze

charltonlido (gareth), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:38 (nineteen years ago) link

How does one gingerly throw caution to the wind?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Maybe I'm just being naively cynical.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 8 March 2005 16:42 (nineteen years ago) link

Yup, just checked Ticketweb - they're flogging tickets for £10 now for it at Cargo. I'm guessing there's not going to be a huge amount of tickets if the Encompass people are all getting in free...

There's another multi venue 'thing' going on Easter weekend at various places around town (Koko, Old Blue (Vice Pub), Lock Tavern) with Hot Chip, Optimo, Park Attack, Whitey, Richard X, Paul Epworth (Phones), Druzzis Baltimore Rave Club, Our Disco, Eat Your Own Ears, Detournement & The Boutique. Their website (http://www.adventuresinthebeetrootfield.com/) doesn't seem to be up and running yet, but might be worth keeping an eye on.
