4-0!

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:16 (nineteen years ago) link

!!!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Apparently that scoreline was 66-1 yesterday evening...

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:35 (nineteen years ago) link

This is rapidly acquiring an aura of unreality. Dott has now scored 300 points with no reply from Ronnie.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:53 (nineteen years ago) link

5-0! Ronnie just failed to return to the table in a one snooker required situation.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 14:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Horrid thought - he's not trying to give him a head start, is he?

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 2 May 2004 15:00 (nineteen years ago) link

Well, normal service has suddenly resumed. Solid 100, and he is doing a lot of left handed stuff. 5-1.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 15:06 (nineteen years ago) link

AAARGH I need to get digital telly! Bloody Young Musician Of The Year, grrr.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 15:13 (nineteen years ago) link

5-3, last time I heard. :( come on dott!!!!

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 2 May 2004 17:11 (nineteen years ago) link

5-4 now. Dott's at the table, looking a little twitchy, but holding it together nicely.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 18:32 (nineteen years ago) link

I'm starting to feel one of the great embassy emotions: anguish.

come on dott!

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 2 May 2004 19:21 (nineteen years ago) link

I don't think Dott believes he can win. *I* don't believe he can, Ronnie looks that much more comfortable at the table. Every significant break Dott's made has been so painstakingly constructed, whereas O'Sullivan's been almost casual at times. And yet we're still at seven all.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:30 (nineteen years ago) link

7-8 now, to O'Sullivan. Bollocks.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:37 (nineteen years ago) link

*curses below breath; wonders whether it's live on eurosport right now*

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:42 (nineteen years ago) link

...mwoah, man o'mullivann maketh it 9-7 now. dang.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:49 (nineteen years ago) link

End of session. 7-9 to O'Sullivan the pantsmonger.

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Why are the BBC showing me Nicky Campbell and that c#nt from Fame Academy?

Ricardo (RickyT), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Are you sure it's not the Spice Channel?

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Sunday, 2 May 2004 20:55 (nineteen years ago) link

Peeps, get ready, frame seventeen to commence soonish!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 13:04 (nineteen years ago) link

12-8 to pantsmonger. Start of the second half of the afternoon session. Would have been 11-9, if it weren't for a bit of atrocious luck in the last frame before the midsession break. Dott got a bad contact while belting a pivotal black, which then shuddered in the jaws, leapt out, travelled a good two feet along the top of the cushion and fell to the floor.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 14:50 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeh, that black was a bad mofunk-up-ah. And it wasn't, unfortunately, the only one of those crucial mistakes after which O'Mullivann came to the table and won the frame.

13-8 looks a bit grim for Dott.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:09 (nineteen years ago) link

Dott really has to get this one, or he's looking at having to win 2/3rds of the remaining frames. O'Sullivan's just had a bastard kick, so Dott's got a chance.

Which he's fluffed.

Bugger.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:11 (nineteen years ago) link

Yep. Almost a pattern there.

Aargh... Dott didn't get that red now, either!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:13 (nineteen years ago) link

He got THAT one though!

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:13 (nineteen years ago) link

Vow. Now that Dott-black was a goodie! :)

And then... ...

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:16 (nineteen years ago) link

... it's O'Mullivann time again.

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:18 (nineteen years ago) link

Dott's century to win his only frame of the day was heroic in the circumstances. 8-14, though...Hendry beat White from this position in '92. Worth a fiver, surely.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:23 (nineteen years ago) link

8-15 now. No way back, surely?

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:51 (nineteen years ago) link

Dott looks exhausted, like he just wants it to end.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:55 (nineteen years ago) link

Well, I'd rather dote on Dott, but it's the hairy one who plays damn well :(

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 15:58 (nineteen years ago) link

8-16. It looks like we're in for a very short evening session.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 16:08 (nineteen years ago) link

: (

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 3 May 2004 17:08 (nineteen years ago) link

I like the Rocket because he wears a plastic tiara.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 3 May 2004 17:15 (nineteen years ago) link

What happened at 11-8 was unfortunate but even at 12-8 I thought that the mid-session came in at the right time, maybe he could have won that 3-1 but when he came out his safety game just fell to bits.

Hope to see Dott winning a few frames tonight.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 3 May 2004 17:33 (nineteen years ago) link

O'Sullivan in control of the 25th frame already.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 18:15 (nineteen years ago) link

Will someone PLEASE tell John Parrot he's not funny.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 18:19 (nineteen years ago) link

17-8. The end is nigh.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 18:20 (nineteen years ago) link

Dott's just missed. Here we go.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 18:22 (nineteen years ago) link

18-8. Ronnie's won.

Ricardo (RickyT), Monday, 3 May 2004 18:38 (nineteen years ago) link

Deserved. Fair play to the underdog and all that, but nobody on the planet could have beaten O'Sullivan at that form.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 3 May 2004 18:57 (nineteen years ago) link

Yeah second that. I think Mark Williams at his best has the temperament and could've pushed him, could have pushed ronnie into making mistakes but given some of the stuff he played this week he deserved a second title.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 3 May 2004 19:58 (nineteen years ago) link

Hey, was that nudie episode, that occured just prior to the evening session, 'a first evah' for the Snooker World Championships?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 3 May 2004 19:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Who'd have thought that Ray Reardon would have an impact on the Embassy in this day and age, though?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 3 May 2004 20:01 (nineteen years ago) link

There was a streaker at the Embassy before. Can't remember when.

And Ronnie... goodness me, but he was magic. You never believed he'd miss. Even when he did, you always felt he'd get back in. He's on an entirely different level to everyone.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 3 May 2004 20:07 (nineteen years ago) link

the pocket-rocket vs. the rocket indeed.

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 3 May 2004 21:34 (nineteen years ago) link

Who'd have thought that Ray Reardon would have an impact on the Embassy in this day and age, though?

i liked the fact that ronnie at the trophie ceremony described Ray Reardon as his "Plan B". Term used in some previous snooker tournaments to insinuate how paul hunter played better after the intervals having had sex with his bird in between. oh man.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 12:30 (nineteen years ago) link

If snooker was ambrosia, Ronnie was eating it all week. Untouchable. He's so hardcore, he wears an alice band. Take that you fuxors.

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:44 (nineteen years ago) link

added bonus he has almost exactly the same voice as david beckham

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 14:46 (nineteen years ago) link

As demonstrated rather smugly by Alistair McGowan.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 4 May 2004 15:38 (nineteen years ago) link

He's so hardcore, he wears an alice band

Egotistical Italian sportsman in wearing alice band non-shock.
