there is no intersection of graham and union - i think you mean metropolitan, but i see the name of the place in the window of your other pic - daniella. i have walked past there many times since i live at that stop :)

I should have known that my description was going to turn out to be wrong in some way; I wish it hadn't been failing to correct the error in the very first sentence once I had, indeed, reminded myself that it was Metropolitan Avenue.

wow I went shoe shopping on Bedford Ave! (at least I can't get that one wrong.) with Tokyo Rosemary's assistance. but I imagine that you will be spending a lot more cash than I did.

Yes, I went with Tokyo Rosemary's Assistants, plural - there are seven of them, each only about 3-4 feet high, and they sing while doing handicrafts.

i have been there. it is not bad, but not OMG SPECTACULAR. big selection iirc. it is big, so there is not a wait to be seated (i was there at brunch time).

yeah the only places i'll go have a RW meal are the Danny Meyer places, but the reservations go in like the first 2 mins of the day. EMP, Gramercy Tavern, Union Sq Cafe, are my faves. The Modern and Tabla are nice too

They don't skimp on ingredients like most places (mixed green salad or soup? chicken breast or farmed salmon? gee thanx). I mean they skimp a little since hell its only $24. The lamb sausage I had was fantastic, but the other main course options were a poussin (cornish game hen) or maybe it was poulard or maybe it was just chicken breast... And also a roasted squash, and finally a piece of skate... mostly cheap'ish stuff. The app choices were a sorta-ceviche'ish salmon on an asparagus veloute, bluefin tuna tartare with heirloom tomatoes, and something else. I had the sweetbread ravioli which was SO GOOD.

also if you go to one of the good woodside thai places, try to get:

kûng châe náam plaa - its raw shrimp marinated in fish sauce, lime juice, chili, and garlic. its VERY spicy and VERY garlicky and VERY delicious.

That isn't terribly far from me.
But the first review on Yelp calls it "tasteless cat food." (which might be better than tasty catfood.)

went to srip last night, I go a lot because I live 10 blocks away. I like most of the thai in the area...poodams, zabb, nusara, chao, arunee etc. My favorite dishes at Srip now are the sweet sausage salad appetizer, it's sweet sausage served with mint, basil, onions, cucumber, tomato in a spicy chili sauce and may be the best thing I've ever eaten.

I'm also obsessed with their Massaman chicken which is unlike any others I've seen elsewhere. It's big chunks of stewed chicken, sometime on the bone, that just falls apart, not like the standard little bits of chicken at most other places.

ok, reporting back: it was the salmon that i had at Chez Lola, and i had it again, and it was lovely. it was served in a flaky something or other, so if you're not into the breaded thing, it's not for you. also the empinada appetizers are great. i heard very good things about the tuna, the pork chops and the salmon burger is always great.

+ pear martini in the garden = heavenly :D

There are only two sweet drinks I like: mojito and bourbon/ginger.

Most sweet cocktails seem to me like an excuse to spend a lot of money on something that sounds sophisticated but goes down easy as a slurpee.

Maya is a wonderful, if expensive, haute Mexican place on the southern tip of the Upper East Side. One of NY's better restaurants

Cool - we're going there for my wife's birthday. I like pretty much all Mexican food from cheap & authentic to cheap & inauthentic to the more expensive varieties.
