My mandoline still scares me to death, had it 20 years...

I had a very cheap mandoline for years and it was always scary to use.

It broke and I spent money on a really good metal one and it is night and day. The mechanism that handles the vegetables is super safe and easy to use.

I’m told “ove gloves” are all-around iron man hands for kitchen purposes including mandoline-ing, those will probably be my next gadget purchase after I fuck a finger up

more excited about the harmless salt cellar, it looks nice on my counter and solves the frequently anxiety-inducing problem of accidentally taking too long to dash in 1/4 tsp of salt at exactly the right time

I love to make quick pickles with thinly sliced vegetables (cukes, watermelon radishes, etc.) 3 to 1 sugar to salt and let sit for 20-30 minutes. Great on salads.
