your first dream is funny considering the anti-Hitler bent of Dr. Seuss's political cartoons and the well-known theme of Yertle the Turtle. if you can't trust an anti-fascist like Seuss to stay away from Hitler's good graces, then maybe you're secretly suspicious of anyone who claims on principle to oppose corruption. you're worried that all your heroes will themselves as phonies, leaving you with no-one to turn to for guidance. you are deeply cynical, like all of us on Ask Dr. Fraud.

I vaguely remember a dream in the past week where I had made a poll on ILX and had the date set wrong so there ended up only being a couple people voting. I think this has been my second ILX dream. I'm not sure of the first but I might of had a dream while I was banned.

I think you don't realize how significant ILX is until it's gone.

I had a dream involving this guy I know IRL who looks like Steve Buscemi, and first we were playing music at a radio station, and then something horrible happened and I was visiting him in the hospital.

I keep dreaming that I'm on a plane and something goes wrong mid-flight. In every one of these plane dreams we have to make an emergency landing. Everything turns out OK but it's really scary right up until the very end. WHAT DOES DREAM MEAN?

I had a plane dream last night ... that I was the chaplain on the plane, but something happened to the pilot, and I was the most qualified to take over. I was terrified about having to be responsible for the lives of all the people on the plane.

Mine? Yeah, it could. I have a lot going on right now so I think it's probably pretty transparent tbh. I don't usually think that dreams mean anything at all - just the brain getting rid of junk but it's weird that I keep having them. It is kind of like when I used to have recurring sex dreams about David Bowie although not nearly as enjoyable.

Yeah, I'd guess if it was recurring there's some real issue you're dealing with ... most of the time I don't remember mine, and I generally subscribe to the junk-processing theory ... I figure when I actually remember one of my dreams, it is somehow significant.

i dreamed about my trainer being a dental hygienist and he didn't give me a chance to warn him that if you floss too hard around that crown, the gums will bleed (i should really get this checked out) so then i had blood in my mouth and then my ankle was swollen and he bandaged my foot but not how you're supposed to bandage a swollen ankle. then i went with my sister to try to do some networking thing but it was epic fail so we were watching some kind of ren fair parade and ran into a girl in the parade who was a friend of a friend who knew my name (she looked famliar, but i didn't know hers). then we were sitting at a table and i was mad at my sister for messing up my networking attempt, and the trainer showed up again and went inside and got us all shots of jack. then someone was passing a bowl of multicolored corn chips around the table but there was a baby in it. she really wanted to get out but when i reached i could not grasp her and the bowl just kept getting passed around.

had a dream about being in a bar where they only had one kind of beer and it cost $10.75 so i just sat there. someone there asked me what my occupation was and i told them i wrote things. i hate writing irl what does it mean

maybe you are worried about getting into a situation where your options are limited, and none of them are appealing - could be job related. On the other hand, maybe you have to visit an airport and fly somewhere where $10.75 beer is a distinct possibility.

i went back to bed for 3 hours this morning and i dreamt i was with some type of school or sports group and we stopped at a camp that had bunk beds. i got into a bed i thought was empty but after sleeping for a couple hours i realized someone else was in it. his head was at my feet. i apologized a lot and found another bed. while we were at the camp there was a competition on tv that was like the olympics but it had more freak show type of things like tallest person, etc. someone commented that everyone who wins was from idaho and i said "that's because they're all bored mormons" and some people laughed but others went o_O. then a really old guy told me he was selling the house that all the beds were in and i had to find a buyer. it was a big responsibility. the house was very big. it was in md by the water and half of it was on stilts. if no one wanted the house, i think i was supposed to keep it

I dreamt I was thrown in a big glass-walled jail cell with about a dozen cellmates therein. every hour the warden came around and gave each of us a candy bar, so we spent all our waking hours crouching on the floor and eating in silence. after 10 years (in dream time) they set me free. there was a money-changing counter in the jailhouse lobby, and I went up to it with a big bag of foreign gold coins. the clerk sorted through them and gave me a check for a billion dollars.

i dreamt i was banned from ire >:(

yeah, but I don't know what the hospital thing was about ... it was obviously a "something bad is gonna happen if I'm not careful" fear, but I have no idea what the fear is.

xp tza: perhaps it has to do with trying to go about doing what you want with your life (symbolized by the babby), and the problems you're having getting into the arts admin circle in a new city, while trying to do what you're "supposed" to do - networking, following the standard path proscribed by professionals (symbolized by the trainer)?

had a dream w/ multiple threads that are hard to separate
- wanted eggplant parmesan so bad (still do lol) but could not find a recipe. was making it from memory but kept getting distracted. my sister had purposely left some plastic disc (like the top to a coffee cup or other container) inside a frying pan and had turned the gas on all the way up. like she did it for a reason, twice. i was like "melting plastic! are you trying to give me cancer!" then i realized that while i was removing the plastic thing she had dumped water into my flour so i couldn't dredge the eggplants and had to buy ALL the ingredients again. then i completely forgot the recipe and was going everywhere looking for stuff like corn, carrots, stuff that doesn't belong.
- some bodybuilders were around for a competition or something? one was my friend (not an irl friend, just in the dream) and he kissed me and i was grossed out by him
- there was another contest, like an engineering contest, where my friend (irl) and i were trying to make something out of different scraps of yarn. it was really frustrating because we were doing it in a really disorganized way.

I had a dream some scruffy stoner dude gave me a free sample of an herb that acted as a feline on/off switch. when I held it in front of my cat's face, she sniffed it once and fell asleep, sniffed it twice and woke up, sniffed it thrice and fell asleep again, et cetera. she seemed pretty irritated by it all.

you desire a place in life with more power than you currently have, but you hold back on striving for more because you worry you may not be the benevolent ruler you hope to be, and instead a big jerk who treats his subjects like pawns.

thanks, tehresa; that's interesting. I tend in my waking life to consider myself not bossy/assertive enough for my own good, but maybe I need to rethink that in light of my dreemz. to tyrannize a cat is to tyrannize a tyrant (cuz cats are really bossy!), so maybe I'm constantly trying to one-up the most stubborn authority figures in my life. I am the big jerk who belittles bigger jerks. intersting.

dreamt i was playing doubles w/ my brother against venus&serena. i don't even like tennis irl! we were losing very badly but thought we could still win. wherever we were playing had a vietnamese restaurant that also had pizza and subs, and there was a van driving by that had a few live chimpanzees in the back seat. at the end of the dream i was holding up the game because i had to go to the bathroom. that's when i woke up and i really did have to go to the bathroom!

dreamt i was going to school for another year and had lost my schedule so i just walked into a classroom and one of my law school professors that i had 3 times was there, but the class he was teaching was real variables II. i already took that class in undergrad but it was like i couldn't leave, i had to just take it again. some people from high school were there. it was like a mixture of all types of school i've ever been to. wtf does it mean?

you're approaching a point in your life when you must make a clean break with all past identities. this upsets you because to distance yourself from your past is to surrender a big chunk of your youth. therefore you desire a reunion: not just a high school reunion or a college reunion, but a grand, mystical event (either in your mind or irl) where you get to say farewell to all your old friends and old memories — both pleasant and unpleasant — so that you'll finally have enough closure to step into the FUTURE.
