wonder if nike is getting to a point where only a certain class of A list superstar really moves the needle in the shoe game and even someone at the level of PG is mostly fungible

yeah i guess my point is how much of it is the shoe vs how much of it is the name? has sneakerhead culture has led to a class of more discerning buyers who are less apt to just buy a shoe simply bcuz of the endorser attached? i feel like the whole thing w/ the sabrina ionescu shoe was that people were like, this is a really high quality basketball shoe. i'm just speculating here as i'm not someone who shopsf for basketball shoes

my extremely non-science view on the PG6s is based solely on what i see kids wearing at the games my son plays in, they're pretty popular. He says they're comfortable and they look cool. Definitely a shoe people seek out.

yeah PGs are also one of the cheaper sig models. kids really love PG.

def seems like signature shoes dont have the cache they once did, which might be part of the larger trend of new basketball shoes just not being nearly as popular as they once were, people dont really wear them for casual purposes like they used to

so if your audience has tilted towards ballers and away from randoms not only is smaller and therefor not worth the investment of signing a guy and do tons of ads but those ballers are maybe less swayed by the marketing because they have the added concern the shoe being personally good for them to play in
