i love “Drift Away” it’s such a man song

I'm sure that's where I first heard it and then never stopped hearing it for years, everywhere

problem I have with “drift away” is that it reminds of the “play some funky Dixieland” part of that doobie brothers song “black water”

I was in the dentist chair for three hours this morning and halfway through “Drift Away” played and I thought “this is the blandest rock standard ever.” I’ve heard it my entire life and never wondered who sang it, even though I can sing along to the whole thing.

Phil Collins twice, Fleetwood Mac twice, the Cars, Pat Benetar also twice. “Stayin Alive” sounded good until the dentist followed the falsetto for a bar or two.

i hear Black Water and wonder how it mighta been improved if McDonald was in the band then and sang it

I like "Drift Away" for the very classically me reason that there's a Springsteen show from 1984 where Steve comes out as a surprise guest and they sing "Drift Away" together as a tribute to their twenty years of friendship and a pledge that they still love and support each other and believe in the music the other is making. and yeah, it's cheesy but I love it.

My son and I have an ongoing debate whether it's Tony Iommi or Dimebag Darrell.

The only time a metal lead guitar player has left me with my mouth hanging open, like, "I can't believe how much he's improving these songs," was seeing Gus G with Ozzy's band in 2010. I wrote about the show (and took pictures, but they're no longer populating) for the Voice.

I saw Johnathan Richmon do a solo show at a small nightclub while I was in college and it was, without hyperbole, one of the worst shows I have ever seen my life.

Was he literally alone, just him? I saw him in college with a drummer (prob. Tommy Larkins) and an upight(?) bass player, and it was awesome... I knew nothing about him, had never heard the Modern Lovers... thought he'd be some crusty punk guy
