I tuned in late so I just went back and rewatched all three boygenius acceptance speeches, all delightful. What was the last band that made being in a band look like so much fun? Peak Sleater-Kinney maybe.

Sit down; I know she’s trying to show support for people but it winds up appearing like she’s trying to get attention.

I went to bed at 10 p.m., so I missed the rest of the hijinks. I guess I'm happy Victoria Monét won Best New Artist.

Yeah, dragging Lana up there was really awkward as she clearly didn't want to be on that stage even for a second.

Apart from some great performances (Dua Lipa, Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Billie Eilish) the clear highlight of the night was Jay-Z's speech. Calling out the academy for not giving Beyonce album of the year, saying "you don't need to clap for everything", "forget about the Grammys", and some artists don't belong in the category's they're nominated in was really fun to watch. I bet they regret bringing him up there.

And apologizing by saying when he gets nervous he "tells the truth," which is just a magnificent twist of the knife

I thought it was pretty lame to give JayZ an honorary award in a year when her very good album got 100% snubbed in nominations, so I'm glad he hinted at it.
