Big fan of his voice and guitar playing of course, but some hits just never gelled with me. Now I am giving them another chance.

Such as
“Dreams of the Everyday Housewife”

Or
“True Grit”

The latter is pretty good and was a number one country hit in Canada.

Even
“Gentle on My Mind”

This last being the theme of the Goodtime Hour, I must have heard it dozens of times if not hundreds but usually kind of tuned it out.

Even something like
“Rhinestone Cowboy”

Which I previously dismissed as some kind of novelty song.

Or
“Southern Nights”
despite Allen Toussaint

I will probably get dinged for not liking these songs all along.

And I am still working on
“Honey, Come Back”

Which was a pretty big hit and written by Jimmy Webb! Who knew?
