Also, reading the accumulated 20 year run of the Dilbert thread change as Adams slowly but inevitably turns rancid and radioactive is some of ILX’s finest writing

for my recent 56th birthday i got a kit from the NHS re bowel cancer checking.
i.e. a poo kit.
had no idea that this was a thing until it turned up.
got the "all clear" letter today, albeit with a lot of legally required caveats.

I feel like poo-kits-in-the-mail is one of those things Fox News will circulate next time there's a debate about universal health care. "In SOCIALIST countries, you have to POOP in a BOX and MAIL it to the GOVERNMENT!!!"

My actual first time ever hearing NIN:

I was staying at my Aunt’s house while on a family road trip, and looking through my cousin’s CDs. My cousin is a few years older than me. I was extremely sheltered musically at that point. He had lots of CDs from bands that I hadn’t heard yet: Korn, Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Radiohead. I knew Radiohead slightly from the "High and Dry" video, and didn't want to risk straying from what I already knew. So I found that song title on the back of The Bends, put on the CD that was in the case, skipped ahead to track 3, and made it to "Your God is dead, and no one cares" before turning it off in horror.
