Ok, so I did some googling and learned that the label did indeed pressure the band into adding pedal steel on two of the tracks. So Torei I probably overreacted, and the changes shouldn’t lessen your experience too much. As for me, I’ll get over it (although pedal steel rules in all situations and the label was right to add it)

Thanks for the follow-up, Crunchytunes. It turns out I have that same promo cd, so I'm not sure I've even heard the pedal steel versions. What are the two tracks?
