also honestly every single answer today should have been 'henry kissinger' with the questions being 'who dated marlo thomas' 'who suborned the paris peace talks' 'who killed the most people' etc

i was just thinking that this season's questions seem easier than usual so far, or at least more in my wheelhouse - feels like a lot more pop culture stuff than usual

though that probably means the rest of the season will be all classical music and ancient geography

disappointed that the beastie boys, to my knowledge, never mentioned the great australian BIGHT

The ingredienthood (or otherwise) of water seems like one of those things that should be settled once and for all in some kind of Quiz Constitution. I didn't even consider it, but see how it might throw you. I thought the Parmentier hint would make this one OK-ish (wiki says "best remembered as a vocal promoter of the potato as a food source for humans in France and throughout Europe"), except it turns out leek was also accepted.

I got bight right because it's part of my flash card set, which also led me to assign it 1 point on defense against someone with a 70% geography score (they got it wrong).

Anyway, I've dug myself out of relegation, with a miraculous win against someone whose worst category is still 50%.

In a kind of reversal of the previous season, I'm lower half in correct answers, but only one point behind Championship qualification, having got a couple of ridiculous breaks with lucky matchups and strange opponent defence.

I'd have known _____ of Biafra but didn't know about the Australian one and I guess wasn't really sure what the definition was.

I need to brag because this season has been frustrating, but I was one of 2 people who got Q2 right yesterday and it was what got me the tie against the player in first place; what's more, they answered more questions right in that match and have 22(!) more TCA than me.

I don't think I am in danger of relegation, but I'm going to end up with my lowest TCA in 20 seasons. Have the questions been harder this season or just not in my wheelhouse?

Only missed one on Music Theory which means I wasn’t one of the umpteenth champs or perfect 12s. Just couldn’t come up with the words Secondary Dominant although of course I am very familiar with the concept.

James, I dismissed that as a bit of cheek at the time and yet after the first week I'm still undefeated! It's been an incredible run of luck with both the questions (my QvH is currently 129, which is pretty unsustainable) and opponents (lowest CAA).

Finished first on the Comedy Bang Bang 1DS, this time shared with 22 (!) others.

Feel like that quiz could've been much harder than it was. A question about a Red Hot Chili Peppers parody song included an audio clip and asked what band the song was parodying. A question about the character of Dabney Coleperson included a photo of Dabney Coleman and said the character's name was "very similar...but with a gender neutral surname." Both questions very gettable without any familiarity with the podcast/TV show, which was slightly annoying because I would've gotten those right even without the extra hints.

i think one of my answers was misscored for that, it says i got andrew lloyd webber wrong but i'm pretty sure i would have gotten it. i'm not going to worry about it for a one-day though, i got another question wrong so i wouldn't have been at the top anyways.

is there a way i can see my answers? i wonder if i had some kind of mental blip

oh i found it. i put "webber" and it was marked wrong. was "lloyd webber" the required answer?

i also found it pretty easy - i haven't listened to the podcast regularly in years, aside from the end-of-year best-ofs, so i expected it to be harder
