blazers kind of have some guys theyre too young to win too many games but theyre not in bad shape

im listening to the hoop collective talk about the leagues new anti load management policies and its weird they and other nba media seem to be in denial about how effective resting guys is, kinda unbelievable calling it a culture of over cautiousness by teams nerd stuff and so forth, do they not recall the spurs building a dynasty on the on it before the rest of the league wised up

i totally understand not liking it but it wins theres no two ways about it

the season is too long guys, when will the nba start handing out fines for the season being too long

the only way you're gonna get teams to stop resting guys during the season is to increase home-court advantage in the playoffs so that teams care more about seeding. Make it 5-2 instead of 4-3 or something so teams care more about what seed they are. (also this will not be enough to get teams to stop resting guys but whatever)

i think maybe the new policies will guilt trip teams into not resting guys for national games which would be an improvement, but ultimately theres noting stopping them from inventing a minor injury if they feel like it

yeah no one will care unless its the big market games. but i thought they kinda started doing better about that last season.

youll be happy to know i have a solution to all this, in light of the nba adopting euro football forms with the in season tournament they should just go all the way and crown the team with the best regular season the nba champs giving them the trophy and rings, then you have a separate tournament called like the playoff cup, everyones invited all 30 nba team maybe even a few g league teams some euro teams idk, best reg season teams get some byes or whatnot, you win that you also get a trophy and rings but different ones, it would also allow the regular season to be shorter and thus each game more meaningful since the playoffs would be longer

they should add 2 more teams and then have a short season for seeding and every team make the playoffs which are double elimination

i listened to this too and was a little surprised, it definitely felt like they were cutting loose a bit on stuff they might have heard from the league office or broadcast partners.

i am sure it is possible to construct a data set that shows that resting players isn't preventing injuries, given the number of major injuries that continue to happen. but to turn around and say we haven't prevented injuries so let's just try playing more is obviously a silly response.

Not seen much of Wembanyama and kind of resisted the hype so far, but I'm watching the Spurs-Heat game and a guy his height should not be able to play like that it's crazy.

he's an absolute delight. devin vassel has played fantastic tonight, too.

a 7-4 man gliding getting low and so forth is not normal

no surprise or change from this summer but if the spurs want to be a legit playoff team they need to upgrade at the point and at center. zach collins has a interesting offensive skillset as a stretch 5, but i feel like he struggles as a scheme defender (proof: vibe check). the spurs have lots of secondary creation (sochan, vassell, wemby) but their best facilitator is tre jones who is good not great and should be the 2nd unit leader.

wemby can just play all those positions

zach collins would be a great 3rd big man but he's not a 2nd or 1st big man

collins is a guy who loves to be injured all the time

that was portland zach. san antonio zach has been pretty healthy (proof: one season of 63 games)
