Yeah, sorry, I honestly saw the pun first and didn't think beyond that.
Though I do think one of the guy's most identifiable traits is he is just kind of big and lumbering. Nothing even to do with his weight, per se, he's just generally big and tall and seems to hulk over those around him (partly by design, due to the alleged lifts, but also the way he leans kind of up and forward, a compulsion to look aggressive and alpha). When I see him sitting at trial he kinda looks like an adult sitting uncomfortably at the kids table.

One of my big Trump memories was channel surfing 15-20 years ago and landing on one of his beauty pageants, seeing him sitting strategically for camera attention a couple rows behind the judges, looking disgruntled and what at the time I took to be 'roided out, a huge body wrapped in a ill-fitting tux topped by a tiny head.

Son & Husband of immigrants on immigrants:
âNobody has any idea where these people are coming from, and we know they come from prisons,â said the former president. âWe know they come from mental institutions, insane asylums. We know theyâre terrorists.âNobody has ever seen anything like weâre witnessing right now. It is a very sad thing for our country. Itâs poisoning the blood of our country. Itâs so bad, and people are coming in with disease. People are coming in with every possible thing that you could have.â

A lot got made of one of his gang of incompetent lawyers, Alina Habba, turning up in court with a gaming laptop, the "2070ti asus laptop with the blue underglow". It's probably more of a tell that it was possibly she who didn't check the jury trial box on the form. Not being sexist here, it could have been another one that fucked that up. But fair to say she doesn't project legal competence by insisting it has been a "strong week" for him.

tbf, Trump will often insert a parenthetical "can you believe it?" into these stories to emphasize just how unbelievable they are. obviously he's a man to whom unbelievable things happen as often as they are needed to prove whatever point he wishes to make.

I'll admit that, as a person who is opposed to every aspect of his existence, I'm occasionally overly eager to go for the 'what a fucking moron' GOTCHA! at times when the facts perhaps don't necessarily warrant a GOTCHA!, but in this instance, it really does not seem like he's capable of separating the character from the actor who plays the character. I'm genuinely unconvinced that he's aware of the difference.

Mads Mikkelsen said in a 2016 CBS News interview that he had no idea what to think about Donald Trump as he had never met him.
"Heâs obviously not the classic politician, thatâs for sure. I can definitely laugh at some of the stuff he says but I can also go, 'Oh my God, did he say that?' I think heâs a fresh wind for some people, but thatâs what youâre voting for, I guess, right? Itâs a big job," he said.

The simplest explanation is that Trump forgot Anthony Hopkins' name so he substituted the name of the one role he played that everyone instantly recognizes. Chances are if he'd said "Anthony Hopkins" instead of "Hannibal Lector" fewer people in the audience would have known just who he was talking about anyway.
