Give him a chance

trump's struggles with his weight is the most humanizing and relatable thing about him.
― treeship., Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:45 (seven months ago) link
I just came home from the public library having checked out the book his niece Mary Trump wrote about him and their incredibly damaged family. I'm not sure how much of it I can stomach, but I'm going to give it a trial.
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:47 (seven months ago) link
I don't know if he can handle another trial.

it's annoying that this "trump" stuff is still going on. from an artistic point of view, his story should have ended when he was booed at the al smith dinner
― treeship., Wednesday, 4 October 2023 23:56 (seven months ago) link
trump is a pathetic rich kid in fifth grade who got caught cheating on a test for the fifth time, threatening not to invite people to his birthday party. he and his guests are way outnumbered but the rest of us pretend otherwise

I mean the man famously eats pretty much nothing but fast food and doesn’t believe in exercise, if it’s a struggle he’s not putting up much of a fight
― frogbs, Thursday, 5 October 2023 00:20 (six months ago) link
Yeah, I don't think the guy is struggling at all, he thinks he is in the peak of health. In fact, iirc, isn't he even explicitly anti-exercise?

― H.P, Thursday, 5 October 2023 00:32 (six months ago) link
I think he has a theory that your heart has a finite number of beats and if you exercise you use them up quicker (not a joke)
― Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Thursday, 5 October 2023 00:35 (six months ago) link
Trump himself says that he is “not a big sleeper” (“I like three hours, four hours”) and professes a fondness for steak and McDonald’s. Other than golf, he considers exercise misguided, arguing that a person, like a battery, is born with a finite amount of energy.

^what an idiotic idea
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 5 October 2023 01:22 (six months ago) link
So he has spent his finite energy lying, grifting, committing crimes and generally making life miserable for anyone who comes into his orbit. Well done.

the finite number of beats thing isn’t totally insane, peak athletes have very low resting heart rates and you could just come up with a silly idea about that

Like his large, complex, detailed but irrefutable report that was going to totally exonerate him, I suspect this is yet another idle thought that flitted through what passes for his brain and out his sound-making hole. He knows how to keep himself in the daily news cycle by spewing random bullshit, I'll grant him that.

(a) A member of the Republican Leadership shall step aside if indicted for a felony for which a sentence of two or more years imprisonment may be imposed.
The GOP would have to change their own house rules to specifically allow someone indicted for a felony to serve, which scans terribly, which means they'd totally do it for Trump.

I'd say this isn't going to happen but I didn't expect people to storm the Capitol either. The problem is, if they do elect him he's not gonna do shit and then when they try and kick him out he's not gonna leave

― Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:05 (six months ago) link
I could see him having a talent for whipping votes through sheer intimidation, but he'd have to show up and do all the other stuff for that to happen
― Muad'Doob (Moodles), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:07 (six months ago) link
One week as speaker would be more hours of labor than the rest of his life combined.
― papal hotwife (milo z), Thursday, 5 October 2023 20:09 (six months ago) link
he'd just stay at Mar-a-Lago, hand over the real work to the Freedom Caucus. he could find plenty of willing dogsbodies to wield the gavel on a day-to-day basis. and, yes, once in he'd never permit a vote to kick him out.

Trump lawyers trying to get the Jan 6th indictment tossed since the coup attempt was part of 'official duties':
“Here, 234 years of unbroken historical practice — from 1789 until 2023 — provide compelling evidence that the power to indict a former president for his official acts does not exist,” they wrote.
The fucking GALL of '234 years of unbroken practice' when he was the first dickwad in those centuries to try and block the peaceful transition, JFC

Even as they wrote that they knew it was nonsense and that no court is going to accept that argument. The question of whether there was any legitimacy to Trump's claims of election fraud has already been litigated and disposed of when he lost more than 60 court cases attempting to establish those claims and did not win once. That puts his efforts on January 6 far outside of any official duties and places his actions squarely in the realm of abrogating his oath of office.
