there are some very cool and dramatic songs in the high holiday repertoire. mogwai already did a doom-y post rock "avinu malkeinu," but someone should try their hand at "unetanah tokef"

curmudgeon, Elana Brody is an acquaintance of mine via her sister and brother-in-law who are very close friends. Very cool that you got to see her do her thing. At our service (which was generally very nice), the cantor did that piece in Hebrew to the tune of "Dust in the Wind" which was pretty corny.
