My brother told me today that everyone likes the Strokes except me. He lies. Sensible folk know they suck.

Everyone likes at least one Mercury Rev album. QED. I never hear anything really bad said about Weezer or Basement Jaxx, either.

how can you possibly nominate the Stones with their 25+ year track record of complete and utter shit

but this "they recorded some crap stuff therefore they are DISQUALIFIED" thing is ridiculous. I defy anyone to name me a musician who didn't disgrace themselves on record at least once.

As Ned pointed out, thumbs down on MoB and the Pixies. Not so much a "I hate them", but more of a "what's the big deal?"

So has anyone shot down the Minutemen or Kraftwerk yet?

Is this "bands that EVERYONE loves" or "bands that EVERYONE ON ILM loves"? If the former, I suspect no one, but James Brown may be as close as you'll get. I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who didn't at least like his stuff.

Just to summarize. The artists that have been mentioned that I like have all been shot down, except James Brown.

I don't care much for Ministry. Most Kool & The Gang, Ella Fitzgerald, Weezer and Basement Jaxx stuff i've heard has been in-one-ear-out-the-other. The Human League makes it but barely. I've never heard Spacemen 3. X is WAY overrated.
