Anna, you're better off getting off at Holborn and following the westbound buses to that corner where Bloomsbury Way becomes New Oxford Street - I think the Old Crown pub is there next to a Winkworth etc, and the carpark. You will then see the clear way to AKA and The End.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 09:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

Or doing exactly the same from TCR tube walking past Arguus and then turning right at the Old Crown.

Though isn't Russell Square lovely at the moment.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 09:58 (twenty-one years ago) link

Pete, my friend's Polish dad calls it Aggros.

Methinks Anna got off Chariot of the Gods aka 91 bus just a bit too quickly.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 10:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

Theoretically I know where it is. It just seems to move. I thought appraoching from a different angle might help.

Russell Square is gorgeous at the moment. Well except for the wino who jumped up off a bench and shouted "You're not old enough to be in here."

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 10:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

I like Russell Square. The fountain is really good for "I'm gonna push you in the fountain!" "No, I'm going to push YOU in the fountain!" type tussles. ;-)

kate, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 10:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ah the 91 - the ILE bus.

Actually the only ILXor I ever bump into in Crouch End is Marianna. Still this may be due to me avoiding Barbella's and having our own Banners On the Hill at the moment.

I can't waiot until the roses grow over the arches in about ten years... I may go spend an hours contemplation in there now. (Or I may go shopping).

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 11:12 (twenty-one years ago) link

I can see Russell Sq from my window!!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 11:12 (twenty-one years ago) link

You can't see Russell Square from HSA's window (though you can see their own private square. And CentrePoint) but you can see it from his doorstep!

Are we the new Bloomsbury? Do we all revolve around Russell Square?

kate, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 11:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

I always have revolved around Bloomsbury. (Shock - thinking about this gives me the cary fact that I have worked in Russell Sqaure for the last EIGHT YEARS!!!!)

HSA is loaded if he lives there.

Of course if Russell Square is the environ of choice, I run the local.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 11:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

I should add - that's my work window, not my home window. HSA = a playa? ;)

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 11:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

The flat is not HSA's. It belongs to his family. I suspect Bloomsbury links, due to his Grandfather's AIP status. ;-)

kate, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 11:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yup, he's a playa!

L-R Kate, HSA, some random guy...

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 11:42 (twenty-one years ago) link

ha ha you always be having a date

what is that supposed to mean? : (

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

It doesn't seem like a mysterious statement.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hey, where did my post go? This has been happening a lot lately!

I said that hstencil was also a PLAYAH and therefore the mystery of the "third man" in the photo of me and HSA is solved!

kate, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

BTW, AIP has been changed from meaning An Important Poet to An Important Playah. Dope fresh, you be down with my New Verse, ya'll here? Word. Sworth.

kate, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

*ker-ching*

Well played, Kate.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

oh Ally I'm just upset Mary didn't say "hey your date was nice" or "hey your date was cute" or other nice things. : (

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

Did you ever consider that maybe Mary didn't find her nice?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:36 (twenty-one years ago) link

but we had a nice 2 minute conversation or whatever!

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

Well, don't argue with me, I didn't meet her, I'm sure she's lovely.

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

(aside to kate, I think the guy who's to the right of Ice-T is the guy who did all his beats, so maybe it'd make sense that that's HSA? But then again, he's the main pimp, so...)

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 12:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

PETE! I don't want to freak you out, but are you a fair(ish)-haired chap currently sat in front of a computer with something green on the top of it? I think I passed by your window earlier!

! -----> Stalker alert!

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 13:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm upset that hstencil didn't say that the 2 minute conversation that I had with him was nice. It is obvious that he only considers the conversation with Mary nice.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

Maybe if you didn't kick him in the shins and run away, he'd like the conversation better?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

sorry, felicity, I meant the conversation with both of you. My conversation with the both of you was nice, although I feel a bit silly for accidentally calling my date by your name. I hope you weren't offended. Some sort of Freudian slip there, surely.

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:15 (twenty-one years ago) link

hstencil, your date was indeed lovely, but i am worried that you are not concentrating enough attention on her and are already dreaming of the next girl, the next date

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

You called your date felicity!!! Did she agree to ever see you again?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:16 (twenty-one years ago) link

oh no! but after we saw you we spent an hour in Tompkins Square Park, talking and smooching!

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

sorry, by kicking you in the shins and haranguing you about squash goggles I meant "Your date is a fox."

It was not obvious to me that it was a date but if I start evaluating their looks now, then one day I might just say nothing and you'll take it to mean your date is ugly. SO best not start.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

well it wasn't so much a date date as it was a get-together-for-a-little-while-before-hstencil-leaves-town-and-date-is-sick date. That is, it wasn't as phenomenal a date as our first one, last Thursday. That said, it was still lots of fun.

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

and I like her a lot.

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

Damn, with this and the obviously thrilling discussion on another thread of Felicity revisiting London, I can just see me doing this (calling her Felicity) on my next date. It's not until next week, so with luck the likelihood will fade.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

I too shall call my next date "Felicity."

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

Must we use the word "date"?

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

what is wrong with that word, Mary?

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

it's just so ugh

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:33 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah, it's like calling an Asian person "an Asian." Objectifying.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

How about "sexual liasion"?

Ally (mlescaut), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:35 (twenty-one years ago) link

in reference to a person or an activity? Or both? And what should I call her then? Don't wanna use her name here, and I think it's way too early to be saying "girlfriend" (yikes!)...

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:35 (twenty-one years ago) link

May 1, 2003, henceforth you shall be known as "Felicity."

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:35 (twenty-one years ago) link

but we didn't have sexual liasons last night, Ally! She's sick.

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:35 (twenty-one years ago) link

...like into S&M, right?

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

"Dating" just implies that its something you're doing serially -- like, on to the next one, on to the next one.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

Guessing by our previous sexual liason, I'm guessing no.

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

that was to Ally.

Well, I may be going on a date with another girl next week, Mary, so maybe it is something I'm doing serially.

hstencil, Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

And what should I call her then? Don't wanna use her name here,

You were the one who brought her up. We're not insisting you talk about her at all or anything. We just said we saw you!

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:38 (twenty-one years ago) link

I dunno -- I don't think serial dating is anything to brag about.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 30 April 2003 18:40 (twenty-one years ago) link

My dating has been a bit like that lately (the serial thing). It's not what I want, so I hope I can get something regular going with someone soon.
