Jedermann sein eigener Fussball (Dada), Tuesday, 28 September 2004 10:00 (nineteen years ago) link

My Dad met Daniel Day-Lewis at a social event last Sunday. He said he was very tall, with smiling eyes and a natural athletic ability. I'm not quite sure what kind of an event this was...

I saw Richard D James coming out of angel tube station on saturday night at about 8.10...I nudged my flatmate and said "look who's there! look who's there!". Flatmate had no idea who I was talking about. But aphex heard and gave me a grumpy look.

My brother and my nephew (his son obv.) saw George Bush the first AND the Dalai Lama in one airport experience. Both waved at Gus, who was four at the time.
I expect he will be confused by this. Should I save Tibet or make money in oil? HMMM.

Mark Heap on Wardour Street. That's kind of pathetic, isn't it? Must try harder.

Phil Babb came into our restaurant for a meal, when he came to the bar I went to serve him, clcked who it was, and instantly recalled his bollocks colliding at high speed with a goalpost back when he was playing for Liverpool. Naturally I started laughing. He asked me why I was laughing and I explained. He just grinned and said "yeah, I get that a lot."

Apart from that a bunch of footballers and rugby league players, and attendant wives, eat at ours. And one or two of the cast of hollyoaks. Not overly exciting.

N.B. I may have mentioned this before

Kaye Adams off Loose Women was on the same flight as me back from my holidays yesterday.

That reminds me, did I ever mention that I had an AIM chat in, like, 1995 with someone who claimed to be Phil Rudd of AC/DC? I never knew why anyone would want to impersonate him -- he wasn't trying to pick me up or anything and seemed genuinely interested in whether the younger generation still listened to AC/DC -- so I always wondered if it was actually him.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 25 October 2004 16:55 (nineteen years ago) link

(I had no idea who he was, btw. I mean, I'd heard of AC/DC, but that's about it.)

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 25 October 2004 16:55 (nineteen years ago) link

Same thing happened to me but it was someone claiming to be in Polvo. I didn't know who they were.

PLEASE TELL

xpost I THINK SO

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Monday, 25 October 2004 17:27 (nineteen years ago) link

OK.

On Friday just gone, I took Alice swimming to Coral Reef, Bracknell.
(Dawn was at work, Amber at school). She enjoys the slides, and would
go down the fastest ones except she's not allowed to wearing armbands.
So, there we are in the jacuzzi bit, I see a girl in a red bikini who
looks vaguely familiar, but think no more of it. So anyway, we are queueing for the slide, and there she is again, with a sort of "you know me and you are not saying hello" puzzled look. I'm like, no I don't think so, but one thought does flash through. Anyway, after an hour or so, Alice and I get showered and dressed etc, and now the girl is outside in the hairdrying area, and now I realise. It was only when she had her clothes on, I realised it was Claire Grogan. (She spoke briefly to two young boys with her, so I'm now positive.)

p.s. she's a year younger than me and is looking OK on it...

I was just having a fag break outside my office, and very poor comedian Jimmy Carr walked past looking puzzled. Five seconds later he came back the other way, still looking puzzled. I expect he was lost.

I saw John Peel outside HMV in Oxford Street yesterday - he's tiny and gnome-like. Then when I went inside HMV I saw Danny Kelly (who, conversely, is enormous) knocking over a rack of Morrissey CDs (more in sorrow than in anger I reckon) then shuffling off like a naughty school boy, leaving a member of staff to pick up the fallen CDs.

Outside the Chandos today, coming the other way: ROY HATTERSLEY!

Seconds later, I really wished I had dared to stop him and thank him for good Guardian columns and his accidental progress into such a progressive voice.

Ooh, I forgot, I saw Ed from ILX on Tottenham Court Road, near Goodge St, at lunchtime yesterday. He didn't see me.
