Trump’s campaign team was miffed by a lack of traffic support from local police after he arrived in Washington, forcing the motorcade to weave through rush-hour traffic. Other motorists attempted to change lanes between the motorcade, showing less deference than typical for an average funeral procession. The welcome from onlookers at the courthouse was occasionally hostile, with several middle fingers from bikers and spectators along the highway from the airport. There was a Biden flag on a corner near the courthouse.
The former president said it was a “very sad day for America.”

(jk jk jk, sorry, too soon. i wish all the best to him and his lovely family and those wonderful supporters of his. honestly, he's already too in my head this morning, i think from all the news the last few days. i am hopeful that the jan 6 trial will be scheduled asap, before the other trials. if it gets scheduled after the maralago one, the shitty trump judge will acquiesce to all the predictable requests to delay the maralago trial until after the election, which will effectively push the other trials, including jan6, past the election as well. until those trial dates get set, i'm hitting the snooze on prognostication about these trials and the election, because it all depends on how much trump's team can convince trump's judges to sweep it under the rug until after the wonderful people of america can decide whether or not to give him power again)

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/04/us/politics/desantis-trump-election-2020.html
Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida said that claims about the 2020 election being stolen were false, directly contradicting a central argument of former President Donald J. Trump and his supporters.
i guess someone finally persuaded him there is no winning lane to trump's right?
Mr. DeSantis also said he did not have much time to watch coverage of his chief rival’s arraignment on Thursday.“I saw a little bit,” he said. “Unfortunately, one of the things as governor that you have to do is oversee executions. So we had an execution yesterday, so I was tied up with that for most of the day.”

Thought y'all would appreciate this reaction from a right wing newsletter that someone signed up for with my email:
The Biden administration has left the rule of law and the U.S. Constitution behind with its latest indictment of President Trump for daring to dispute the 2020 presidential election, as is his God-given right as a president, a citizen, and a candidate under state, federal and constitutional law.
This sham indictment is perfectly consistent with the partisan and political abuse I suffered at the hands of Jack Smith’s prosecutors for hours as they argued with me before their grand jury using Democratic talking points on the election controversy.
Let’s be blunt: This indictment is a naked threat and act of intimidation by the Democratic Party against any and all their political opponents. The message from the Biden regime is: “We will put you in jail if you dispute elections.” A free and fair 2024 election is officially impossible.
And, of course, Joe Biden and his political appointee Merrick Garland at the Justice Department want to distract from the conclusive evidence of Biden’s personal corruption by trying to jail and turn Trump into a political prisoner.
It is well past time for Congress to do everything possible under the law to undo this attempt to wreck our republican form of government.
Let’s hope the courts finally step up and shut down this unprecedented prosecutorial abuse.
In the meantime, Judic1al Watch will continue to expose and hold accountable the criminal elements in the Biden administration seeking to undo our republican form of government.

A dozen Trump supporters approached Mike Pence’s vehicle as he entered his Friday event yelling, “that’s a traitor,” “you’re a sellout,” and “why didn’t you uphold the constitution?” “I upheld the constitution,” Pence shouted back. As they badgered him he yelled, “Read it!” pic.twitter.com/gKpeB2mntO— Kelsey Walsh (@Kjwalsh_news) August 5, 2023
Meanwhile, what were assholes like Pence thinking? For years he defended Trump, or avoided criticizing Trump. He dragged his feet when asked to give testimony about Trump or be formally interviewed about Trump. He put up with all sorts of affronts to his purported morality, at the cost of his credibility and, in some cases, literally putting his life at risk. And this is all in service of a guy that despises him, and his supporters, who also despise him. And then, years later, he finally takes a turn for the minimally righteous, and no one gives a shit. All that stalling, all that shallow stoicism and sophistry, was in service of nothing, and he will go down in history as a footnote, disliked by the majority of both sides, having gotten nothing in return. It would be downright Job-like had it not all been self-inflicted and totally avoidable from the start.

Meanwhile, what were assholes like Pence thinking?
over the last 40 years countless people have tried to harness trump's fame, or money, or following, for their own benefit. all the lawyers/contractors/financial partners/political parties thought they could use him rather than being used by him, and they've almost all been wrong. pence is just one of them
two who *have* gotten away with using him are the saudis and rupert murdoch, because they're much richer and care even less about their 'reputations' than he does
