Steve Bannon suggested Sunday that a presidential ticket with former President Trump (R) as president and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (D) as vice president could result in “a massive landslide.”

And it's just weird enough that it might become a reality

The spectacle of MAGA-on-MAGA violence is too good not to post.

https://www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-supporters-2662573161/

“Tensions flared…with pro-Trump protesters denouncing the move (to change the delegate-selection process), police getting called and two factions nearly coming to fisticuffs,” the report said.

Fisticuffs!

a massive landslide like a deadly earthquake that ends civilization, sure

linoleum gallagher (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 21:09 (nine months ago) link

UPDATE: It’s happening. Prosecutors have entered the courtroom and a new “grand jury returns” has been added to the docket.

Court is now closed. We may have to wait for Trump to get the summons and hop on Truth Social to learn what happened.

Ah yes the keen political instincts of Steve Bannon.

Former President Donald Trump has been informed he has been indicted, a source says.

That source? John Barron.

yes

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 21:45 (nine months ago) link

It's not only allowed, it's encouraged.

But ex-cons aren't allowed to vote?

― the world is your octopus (Camaraderie at Arms Length)

depends on the state

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 21:48 (nine months ago) link

Most states deprive convicted felons of many of their civil rights, including the right to vote. These rights are usually restored upon release, unless you have the misfortune to live in a state like Florida, which in an example of its endless fuckery won't restore them until the felon pays court costs, restitution, etc.

A felony conviction is no bar to running for President of the United States. The Senate could have convicted Trump in the second impeachment and prohibited from ever running for federal office again. Short of that, he'd have to be found to have engaged in rebellion.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 21:48 (nine months ago) link

that's the trick, you have to stay convicted, then you can do whatever you want. once you stop being convicted is the problem

linoleum gallagher (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 21:53 (nine months ago) link

Smith: The attack on our nation's capital on January 6th was an unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy. It's described in the indictment. It was fueled by lies. Lies by the defendant, targeted at obstructing a bedrock function of the U.S. Government pic.twitter.com/wj685DpKIy

Ooooohhhhhh he went there

“Today's indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States,” Pence said in a statement.

Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 23:39 (nine months ago) link

Considering the guy reportedly took notes, and no doubt said notes had a big impact on this indictment, I guess that loser has nowhere else to go.

Super weird how the right sees Jack Smith as some sort of a "bedraggled nervous wreck, dripping with anger and highly emotional," and not a stone cold legal killer.

Trey Gowdy was their idea of a stone cold legal killer, so...

Rehoboth/Dewey has been one of my family's go-to family gathering spots for decades, it's nice in a classic Atlantic Seaboard way.

Also whatever happens with this I'm so glad he got outright charged for Jan. 6 — good! Any fuckin thing we can do to make anyone think twice about doing that again.

Meanwhile Yglesias is SURPRISED that some of the people in the White House were actually ACTING like they were trying to steal an election.

WTF did he think they were doing?

This reveals a more serious level of real planning for a seizure of power than I’d guessed was happening. pic.twitter.com/k9o0pxl8v8
