Seems like our humble West Midlands heroes will be overlooked by the metropolitan elite yet again

I thought at the time of that dropped catch by Stokes and the wasted review then it was going to be the Aussies day, that was dramatic!

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Monday, 31 July 2023 18:11 (nine months ago) link

umpires chose the replacement ball, take it up with them

my question is why the first ball was so crap

imago, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 09:08 (nine months ago) link

how does this work? if the ball gets damaged after so many overs do they even have some comparable used balls at hand for replacement? If they are still sore about that Bairstow stumping then that is about as churlish and pathetic as it gets.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 09:09 (nine months ago) link

Wouldn't be surprised if Emg paid them off.

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 09:12 (nine months ago) link

Calzino: the replacement has to be of comparable wear and tear. This was not it, apparently

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 09:13 (nine months ago) link

They should have some balls from net practice?

xyzzzz__, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 09:13 (nine months ago) link

The umpires should have a whole stock of balls, in differing stages of wear and tear, which can be used as replacements. This sounds pretty dodgy to me. Anyway congratulations to England for, at the very last minute, preventing the first series win by an Australian team since 2001 while failing to prevent Australia retaining the Ashes

Continuous Two-Tone Warble (Tom D.), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 09:14 (nine months ago) link

lol, even King Boy Pato wouldn't quite take that tone

(maybe he would)

(he's been very quiet for 3 Tests tho)

imago, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 09:48 (nine months ago) link

australia would have won if (lol) england weren't cheats or (more likely) the selectors finally got rid of Dave Warner

cocaine bear say hi to me (King Boy Pato), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 10:37 (nine months ago) link

the first series win by an Australian team since 2001

... in England that is, of course.

Think the current arrangement- Enlgand getting bullyrammed down under, exciting close series here- suits everyone really

just saw the video of the "Boring!" heckler who annoyed Khawaja and Labuschagne as they walked up the stand. Was expecting it to be someone much younger, it's an old guy with a bald head and grey hair who obviously doesn't know much about test cricket!

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Sunday, 15 October 2023 17:06 (six months ago) link

I didn't follow the game but caught a glimpse of the score earlier when the were 100 and something for 5 and my thought was at least it was going to be a respectable loss. I had no idea this was going to happen.. lol ..faNTASTIC!

Amazing we’ve gone from being so good to being so bad! Lack of prepartion, can’t be bothered, or can’t deal with the conditions?

They're basically the worst team in the world now.

Critique of the Goth Programme (Neil S), Monday, 6 November 2023 10:42 (five months ago) link

Very strange incident. Arguably the batsman was ready to play – he reached the crease within the required time, then his helmet strap broke which was hardly his fault, so he was putting safety first. Although, he was facing a spinner so could probably have done without the helmet for a few deliveries.

Shakib is a massive cunt, is something already well-known in the game

imago, Monday, 6 November 2023 11:39 (five months ago) link

This is a bit of a thriller.

Afghanistan set 291, reduced the Aussies to 91/7; Maxwell has survived a reviewed lbw and has now made 142 off 99 balls. He's cramped up to such a degree he can't run. 60 off 60 required.

Michael Jones, Tuesday, 7 November 2023 16:15 (five months ago) link

Is it still a thriller if you know exactly what will happen

not anti-Skibidi Toilet per se (Bananaman Begins), Tuesday, 7 November 2023 16:52 (five months ago) link

Yeah everybody knew Maxwell would hit a double century despite barely being able to walk.

The First Time Ever I Saw Gervais (Tom D.), Tuesday, 7 November 2023 16:59 (five months ago) link

I may have been suckered into the "guy can't walk, can't *move*" chat on the radio, like every time Djokovic calls the trainer two sets down and I get my hopes up.
A 202-run 8th-wkt ODI partnership in which the fitter player contributes 12. Bit mad.

xp

tbf quite funny this happened at the modi stadium tho

imago, Sunday, 19 November 2023 15:57 (five months ago) link

Yes, rare that I would support Australia over India but...

This was supposed to be India's day in front of an enormous home crowd with their prime minister Narendra Modi, who this stadium is named after, up in the stands.
