Huh, the other side of the hill from me. Figures I guess. I heard one time Charles Johnson (remember him?) was around here some years back.

Were there any telltale signs of his current thing in that book of his? I received it as a gift, never read, dropped it at a little free library last year.

Yeah that's what was surprising to my (longtime neighborhood resident) friend who said JD and his POC wife (note: they both used different names back then, is that a MAGA thing?) were active in their neighborhood projects (cleanups of neighborhood open space/public stairwells, garden) and seemed pretty non-sociopathic. Then they moved away and JD grew a beard and adopted this whole hillbilly rustbelt salt-of-the-earth persona.

Anything for the grift.

That means all nominees will require procedural votes and confirmation votes; any one senator can slow down nominees, but a simple majority is required both for a procedural vote and final confirmation.

“If Merrick Garland wants to use these officials to harass Joe Biden’s political opponents, we will grind his department to a halt," he said in a statement.

Most DOJ nominees require procedural votes given the complexities in getting all 100 senators, particularly on the GOP side, to agree on a speedy vote.

The policy does not apply to U.S. marshals, though it does apply to U.S. attorneys. Vance supports Trump in the 2024 primary.

like you're not even slowing them down because your party already grinds these votes to a halt, you're just doing nothing and wanting people to suck you off for it

I feel like a lot of the policies that come out of supposedly liberal cities due to the structure of moneyed/powered/embedded interests are responsible for dysfunction in those places and Vance types say how horrible those cities are and then… full-heartedly just spell out those policies and try to make them true everywhere?

(re: jd vance, i forgot to mention that Hillbilly Elegy is one of the funniest movies i've seen in years. like, in a way that i didn't think anyone even made movies anymore. like, in that way that me and my sister used to endlessly recite lines from horrible t.v. movies when we were kids. that kind of funny.)

My insight is that Glenn Close is a terrible actress.

Glenn Close is a trashy actress who gets confused for a proper actress because she's got one of those Streep/Barkin faces. Used properly (The Shield, Damages, Fatal Attraction), she's great.

And Dangerous Liaisons, watched, again, on a plane last Friday and still fun.

I was watching The Wife (still haven't finished it...) and I was imagining her playing The Joker. In the movie Joker.

(i'm definitely a fan. she's pretty fearless and fearless people fail a lot. but she's always kinda fun to watch.)
