its been said before in this thread but I don't think the right has another J6 in them, the first one went so incredibly poorly

yeah, considering it accomplished nothing but getting participants arrested and fired from their jobs, i'm not sure how gung-ho they'd be for a part 2.

Seeing as these folks proudly fly old Dixie and Nazi flags, they obviously don't care about being on the successful side.

last time around they actually had the belief that the Trump-lead military and government was going to be on their side. which of course happened but not to the degree that they succeeded. now they don't even have that.

the average person wants to go to see Zach Brown Band on Saturday and you can't do that dead or in jail

one thing's for sure every time something happens that's unambiguously bad for Trump a bunch of insane right-wing assholes (and the New York Times) will scream about how it's actually good for him

At this point there are plenty of extreme right LARPers who'll jabber ominously if you put a camera on them and invite them to tell the world how fearsome they are. My sense is that the more competent leadership, capable of forming a plan of action with a ghost of a chance, the type who have relevant military or police training, have either been indicted & convicted or have burrowed themselves deeper underground and are waiting for a more favorable moment such as might be provided with a close election or Trump back in office.

I disagree. When you consider how small the central core of the conspirators was and how small a force they had at their disposal, they came unbelievably close to success. They nearly handed Trump a pretext for declaring a state of emergency. They expected him to use that gift to complete their coup d'etat. What they failed to understand was that Trump is incompetent. And very lazy. And by far the wrong person to trust to pull his weight.
