Having heard it first a couple of years earlier, I always preferred the Kerry Delius original over the Hazell Dean cover, but now that I’m revisiting all these tracks, I’m leaning towards Hazell’s for the first time. That might just be for practical “this one would work better on a dance floor”reasons, though.

yeah the original sounds very wonky by comparison (not a diss!). love the slight dolly parton-ish vibrato in her voice too

The venue is Prohibition, which is the newly converted basement club space below the Lord Roberts on Broad Street, and I'll be playing from 9pm to 2am on both nights.

Ahh, I'm so sorry - I went out on Friday and was so hungover yesterday I couldn't make it. How have they been? Are you planning for any more of them?

The first one was way too quiet, but last night was much more like it, and so they want me to do another. The people there who properly got what I was doing were a joy to behold, and I felt fully connected to the room. That said, you can’t stray too far away from the big crossover hits for too long, so I steered clear of specialist over-indulgence!

I knew I wanted to play some Can tribute tracks but didn't think about how they might fit in and figured they'd just be outliers, and Stop Bajon was just something I finally got so I brought it, but not necessarily the vibe of what I was going to play. But as Can was playing and I was trying to figure out how to go from Turtles Have Short Legs I thought huh, this might kinda work, certainly more than anything else in my bag!
