Another streak of articles that I would not have gotten on my own, but yesterday I was at least able to get it without googling. Very fortunate hints were the key.

I did get the first word and did guess Charlemagne but didn't immediately think to try different F-word variations, even though I did guess the language.

couldn’t understand why I wasn’t getting any element of these original names right, but it was because I kept thinking it would be (some form of) German instead of Latin

didn't get the two before today's.

I solved Redactle Unlimited #375 in 49 guesses with an accuracy of 44.9% and a time of 00:29:11.

i really don't know anything about charlemagne or that era. I guessed Frank and got 0 hits, had nothing left at that point so took a hint and it gave me Franks :/ then took five guesses to get the name right!

finally got that it was a Greek/Roman *weapon* in about 65 and what it did soon after, but the name… used hints for the source words, to no avail at first, and then my mind went ballistic and I had found it - without being familiar with the word afaik

I solved Redactle Unlimited #377 in 41 guesses with an accuracy of 80.49% and a time of 00:47:24. Hints used: 3

fun one!
from scanning the article it was clear that it was a provincial capital city in Mainland China. was able to identify the province in question, and then had to use some hints - got the second syllable through its character, the first one by using another well-placed hint

I'm having a long run of knowing what it is but not what it's called. I did recognise it when I cheated but I'd never have got it.

ledge, Wednesday, 19 April 2023 22:50 (one year ago) link

I found its English name, that is, the third and second word, and then used a hint to get the first (which would have been very doable in hindsight), but I’m expected to know its Latin name, which, no

Had a hard time pinpointing where this subject lived, as his being a billionaire and involvement in US trade of something made me think he was American, especially after yesterday's article. I tried drug, maybe he was in pharmaceuticals, because I was running out of other fields, and then dealer, and that finally did the trick.
