which old thread is the one where Ally posted pics of kittens dressed up and doing various things like in the above photo? Harvey Nicks rip it off 4 years later!

Konal Doddz (blueski), Wednesday, 26 July 2006 12:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Surely pics of kittens dressed up and doing various things has been a staple of feliniphile merchandise since Roman times?

Can any of you guys even use the search feature? It hasn't worked AT ALL for me since, like, 2005.

If it's something that's come up recently I hazard a guess how long ago it was and use the "new answers from n days ago" thing at the bottom, otherwise I use "site:http://ilx.wh3rd.net" in google searches. Not great but it works.

There was a thread on Spaghetti Westerns, I think it started with DV noting that his favourite is "Naked Django", "not that I've actually seen it of course."

Also, the second "Showcase" thread on ILC!

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 4 January 2007 12:37 (seventeen years ago) link

(which seems to be unindexed by Google, even under the new regime. I don't know how many threads that applies to)

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 4 January 2007 12:39 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm not sure there was an actual second Showcase Presents thread, I think it was another thread that got completely derailed.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 4 January 2007 13:13 (seventeen years ago) link

There was! It was called, like, "Showcase Reprezent! Pt.2" or something.

I used to be able to find the O.C. thread by Googling "peter gallagher's eyebrows" + "amateurist," but that doesn't work anymore and Direct ILX Search doesn't like short words like "the" and, uh, "O.C." Anyone?

jaymc, Monday, 7 May 2007 23:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Everyone looking for KITTY thredds. Makes sense.

Abbott, Monday, 7 May 2007 23:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Re: The O.C.

http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=40&threadid=19696

The search does actually look for display names too. This isn't documented, though, so I just looked for amateurist and then scrolled about.

It will work better in the next release ("O.C." should work).

The original of "Fuck Washing a Hat"

The first time of seeing it for me was on an Excelsior thread, but I can't find it there either.

Mark G, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 09:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Haha, I had to use the "can someone help me find the thread for when you can't find threads" because I couldn't find it - "can't find" as a direct search didn't pick it up.

Anyway, I cannot find the current Doctor Who thread. "Dr Who", "doctor who", judoon, sontaran, tennant, martha don't pick it up, even macra which I know is in the title.

OTOH I only want to talk about the DVDs announced today so even the "doctor who has lost its way..." thread would do. Search doesn't find that either.

aldo, Friday, 18 May 2007 14:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Never mind, just found it by actually searching in g00gl3 itself. Search seems to be doing something odd, in that case.

aldo, Friday, 18 May 2007 14:35 (sixteen years ago) link

I think Le Coq said "Fuck Washing a Hat" first?

Mark C, Friday, 18 May 2007 16:13 (sixteen years ago) link

How about the thread(s) with recommendations for where to stay in NYC?

eater, Friday, 18 May 2007 16:35 (sixteen years ago) link

http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=40&threadid=5322

Aldo, it would've got "warriors", which is in the title. Dr Who is particularly tricky, as Dr has only two letters and is automatically excluded from the search, and "who" is a 'stopword', i.e. part of a list of words that MySQL automatically excludes from the search. Don't see 'macra' in the title, though.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude, can you post more of a clue as to the thread's title, or who started it?

Can someone post that "choose your own adventure book: dating a co-worker" image again please? Google didn't help when I was looking the other day

DJ Mencap, Friday, 18 May 2007 17:47 (sixteen years ago) link

You're right Keith, macra isn't in the title, sorry. It is in the thread several times though... so although direct search didn't pick it up, the usual search on either wh3rd or p3r should pick it up.

aldo, Friday, 18 May 2007 18:09 (sixteen years ago) link

ILM thread that talked about accessible tracks for "difficult artists," wherein I said, "Hey, 'Paperhouse' is cool!" and revealed that I didn't listen to Can.

Leee, Friday, 18 May 2007 20:17 (sixteen years ago) link

Found it: What one track of a notoriously difficult artist would you offer to someone who's curious about said artist?

And I started it.

I'm pretty sure this is the thread with the dolphin-people, but I'm not willing to click on it again to find out - What kind of alien species are on the new super-earth? NOT SANITY SAFE EITHER.
