Second time out kayaking this summer.

It's something St. Marys started two summers ago: you can book one of six kayaks through the library for a couple of hours, no charge. I'd do it every day in July and August if they let you, but two bookings per week is the limit.

Very relaxing, good way to clear your head. You can go north on the Thames River towards Mitchell, or east along (Mike) Trout Creek. I sometimes like to pretend I'm in Deliverance: I scan the shore hoping to see the kid with the banjo, but I also worry about those two bad guys hiding in the woods.

i went to my very first party since before the plague! Heck, this was only the second time I have been in someone else's house since the pandemic (not counting record buys...). It was so nice. I saw so many friends. It was very indie rock. Everyone was so happy. I wore my free jazz hat. Which was perfect for the smoky sun. I complimented kim gordon on her pants. i watched yo la tengo play badminton. i got stoned.

picture is of a partially obscured maria and me in the barn with my cranky record guy mentor byron coley. it was lovely to see him. it was lovely to see everyone! made me a little wistful when i thought of how long it had been since i just sat down and hung out with people. i'm hoping this makes me do it more.
