steph just didn’t have a good enough season to overcome missing 25 games and his team being doodoo for me

jdub seems like a perfect big wing all around player but paolo has elite scorer upside, tho prob more risk there that he never becomes efficient

i like them both a lot paolo is a beast man if he maxes out he will be very tough to deal with, jdub doing basically everything well at the end of his rookie season is very impressive tho worth noting that he played 3 years of college ball and is a year and a half older than paolo

yeah hes a bit of a late bloomer didnt really break out til his jr year, tho he put up better numbers in the last ~3rd of this season than he ever did in college, prob one of those guys whos just more cut out for the nba game

i mean statistically its one of his better seasons. my main issue is having dame in over him, they're going to play roughly the same amount of games in the end

dame was just better this year idk

basic and advanced box score stuff favors dame, he was also a net positive when on the floor despite his team being hot garbage. the guards were really tough to pick

it's surprising to me that jarren's fouling isn't a disqualifier for more people... by definition, to me, you can't be the best defensive player in the NBA if you also foul the most. those two things just don't compute

players like embiid and bam are averaging 35 mpg to jarren's 28 mpg... if you told either of those guys "hey go out there and play 28 mins and foul out it's all good" what kinda defense would you see from them. also their teams would die

hollinger made the argument in his column that a large percentage of his fouls are offensive and loose-ball fouls…to me I’m not sure it really matters because the primary detriment of fouling a lot is getting other teams into the bonus and lack of availability. but it’s hard to argue with his rim protection numbers at multiple positions

embiid is like an 90th percentile defensive player, but I can’t really see the argument for him as a DPOY contender, there are just too many superior defensive players who lock in more consistently

danny leroux and nate duncan’s awards podcast yesterday was pretty good. they made an interesting case for draymond to be on the ballot

good article. honestly for me it just comes down to the fact that jokic’s advantage in offense is so much larger than either embiid or giannis’s advantage on defense you just have to give it to him (and jokic’s defensive shortcomings are a bit overblown even if they are glaring)

One thing that gets lost with Embiid because of how good he’s been and his outsized personality is how he started playing so late compared to a lot of players. It is pretty admirable that he has really continued to work on his game even this offseason he worked on his passing and cutting down turnovers.
